Huge turnout at 6th Airtel Hyderabad Marathon
HYDERABAD: People of all ages have participated in the 6th Edition of Airtel Hyderabad Marathon. People came out in large numbers to cheer and support runners who have participated in this year’s edition of marathon.
The Hyderabad Runners Society and Bharti Airtel together with Telangana government along side former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman unveiled the specially designed finisher’s medals and corporate trophy for this year’s edition of the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon. This year’s edition of this annual sporting event is held on August 27th and 28th with 16,000 active participants. Phil Maffetone, proponent of lifestyle, health and fitness has been appointed as the event ambassador for this year’s marathon.
Around 1000 runners have participated in the full marathon which was flagged off by NR Jitender, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and around 5000 runners have participated in the half marathon which was flagged off by Dr B. Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner of GHMC. The event started at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road in the early hours.
More than 50 musical bands have been arranged, which kept the runners spirit high, while on the other hand sports aspirants, enthusiasts and thousands of citizens have lined the entire route to participate in the city’s largest community sporting event.
