Hospitals not maintaining records

  • Welltech Foundation wants MCI to take action

Hyderabad: Welltech Foundation, which regularly conducts awareness programmes about mosquito-borne diseases in and around the twin cities, particularly in slum areas, has requested the Medical Council of India, to take necessary action against hospital authorities who are not maintaining the records of patients and their case sheets as per the MCI rules and regulations.

In a letter to the Medical Council, the Foundation President Ch Veerachary, said that they had filed applications under Right to Information Act with some hospitals in the twin cities, to let them know  the number of dengue cases and deaths caused by the disease. In reply, the Osmania General Hospital had issued a letter stating that “this hospital is not maintaining disease-wise records”, while the Railway Central Hospital, Lalaguda, had stated that ‘data is not traced’ pertaining to the details of the period from 2007 to May 2015, which are against  the rules and regulations of the Medical Council of India, he added.
