High Court Notice to Speaker on Defections

HYDERABAD: The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh common High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to the Speaker of Telangana State Legislative Assembly Madhusudhana Chary to reveal as to how much time he would take to respond on the disqualification petitions filed by the TDP and Congress parties. The court directed the advocate general to get the information from the speaker in this regard and adjourned the case to next week.

It may be recalled that several Congress and TDP MLAs joined TRS party last year. Both TDP and Congress parties filed petitions asking the speaker to disqualify the MLAs, who shifted their loyalties. The TDP and Congress parties approached the High Court, as the speaker has not yet taken the decision. Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Teegala Krishna Reddy and others joined TRS party last year. (NSS)
