“ Great Statesman ” award to KCR
HYDERABAD: News & Services Syndicate (NSS), the premier news agency that caters news to various small and medium publications, besides television channels for the past four decades, had conferred Chief Minister Chandrasekhara Rao with “ Great Statesman of Telangana” award, as he is fondly known for his selfless service and sacrifices in achieving a separate Telangana State.
The award was presented on the occasion of TRS plenary at Lal Bahadur stadium on April 24.
NSS, which had reported exclusively the day-to-day events of Telangana movement, felt that the “ Great Statesman of Telangana” award to Rao would be befitting in recognition of the yeoman services rendered by the TRS founder-president, especially in putting his life at stake by going on an indefinite fast to accomplish statehood.
Nearly four months back, NSS announced that Rao was nominated for the award. However, due to various reasons and also preoccupation of the Chief Minister the award ceremony did not take place.
On the occasion of the TRS plenary, the award was presented to the Chief Minister by Konda Lakshma Reddy, Managing Editor and former MLA on behalf of NSS. The Chief Minister soon after completing his address received the award and thanked NSS.
Rao has also received “Best Indian of the Year award” from CNN-IBN recently. (NSS)
