Govt. warns fertilizer companies against unethical practices
Hyderabad: Telangana State Agriculture Secretary Parthasarathi has instructed the district collectors to create awareness at the field level on fertilizer companies resorting to unethical trade practices of advertising/promoting fertilizers which are not notified through print and electronic media.
He also said that the advertisements offering lucky dips, incentives, attractive gifts through scratch cards on buying fertilizers have come to government notice. Parthasarathi said that the district collectors should take immediate action against such companies in their jurisdiction once the malpractices come to their notice. He suggested to the farmers to take advice of the concerned Mandal Agriculture Officers and ensure that fertilizers notified under Fertilizer Control Order, 1985, are purchased to avoid being misled by the other products. The official said that the farmers are also advised to observe the labels before buying various types of fertilizers like straight, complex and organic fertilizers to avoid deception. The Secretary said the farmers should obtain bills for the fertilizers bought by them without fail.
Parthasarathi advised all the fertilizer manufacturers not to resort to selling non-FCO products with FCO brand names. He also said that if such issues are brought to the government notice, serious action will be initiated against such companies. –NSS
