Govt Names Vineet Brijlal As SIT’s Chief
Visakhapatnam: The DIG of Greyhounds Vineet Brijlal has been named as the chief of the Special Investigating Team (SIT) being constituted for investigating into the recent land scam in Visakhapatnam. Vineet Brijlal worked in the CBI earlier.
Besides Brijlal, the government appointed the Joint Collector of Visakhapatnam district G.Srijana, Revenue Divisional Officers and Deputy Superintendent of Police as members of the team. The State Government is learnt to have issued oral instructions pertaining to composition of SIT while the formal orders are expected shortly. The total composition of the team is yet to be known. The SIT is asked to submit its report in a two months’ time.
While speaking to the media at Amaravathi, DGP N. Sambasiva Rao told that SIT would find out all those responsible for the acts of tampering with land records. Those lands whose records were tampered with did not get registered afresh in fraudulent beneficiaries’ names, he revealed. As many as 25 records pertaining to 260 acres of government land and five acres of private land were tampered with, the DGP told. The police registered three cases till now on the charges of falsification of records and forgery, he informed. He urged the affected persons to share all the information with the SIT in order for it to carry out a comprehensive investigation.
