Google’s GOSF 2014, going great guns

Hyderabad, December 11: Indian e-commerce is the fastest growing business in Asia Pacific and is expected to reach $6 billion by 2015. According to a research firm Gartner the ecommerce market in India is growing at around 60-70% every year. There is a neck-to-neck competition among ecommerce market leaders like Flipkart, Amazon, and Snapdeal. Google, being the leader in the internet market can pool in huge traffic to its website.

Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) is a 3-day event starting 10th December and ending on 12th Dec, 2014. Google, partnered with more than 400 e-commerce players, aggregating their products, is offering deals and discounts. It has already stated pooling the traffic by engaging customers with games and lucky draws.

Google has introduced two new segments in GOSF 2014. Firstly, Exclusive Launch Corner, where the customers can shop among a wide collection of never-seen-before products. These products are offered exclusively on GOSF 2014 and cannot be purchased outside. Secondly, the Rs. 299 Corner, where the customer can purchase anything and everything at just Rs 299 with facility of free home delivery and cash on delivery.

Google had introduced GOSF in December 2013 which received a massive response. They planned a 3- day sale initially from 11th to 13th December, but the response was so huge that they had to extend by one day.

Flipkart is not participating in the Google’s GOSF 2014. However, they are trying to make their own mark by introducing “Big Apps Shopping Days”. This event started on 8th December and will end on 12th of December 2014. They partnered with Meru, OLX, and Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 for this event. To participate in this event the customer has to install the Flipkart App from the App store.
