Godavari Pushkarams from July 14
- Minister slams Centre for not releasing funds
HYDERABAD: The 12-day Godavari Pushkarams will begin on July 14 at the auspicious time of 6.26 AM to 6.38 AM at Dharmapuri in Karimnagar district, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam.
Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy stated this in a media conference at the Secretariat. Government Advisor Ramana Chary, Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao will invite President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narenda Modi for the mega event to be celebrated in a grand manner till July 25, he stated.
The Minister expressed displeasure at the Centre for not releasing adequate funds for the pious Godavari Pushkarams being conducted for the first time in Telangana State. He also slammed the opposition parties for making a hue and cry on the event, instead of giving constructive suggestions for the smooth conduct of the festivities.
The minister said that elaborate arrangements have been made spending adequate funds that involved all departments in five districts.
Almost 105 pushkarghats are getting ready and officials are on the job to complete the patch work of roads, toilets, drinking water, medical teams, better road connectivity and tight security with 18,000 policemen, and so on.
The officials were asked to give wide publicity and use Telangana Sanskrithika Sarathi to conduct cultural programs to highlight the festivities of Godavari Pushkarams. Noted saints and priests like Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, Naga saints from Himalayas are expected to turn up to the event to be attended by a large number of people from various places.
“We are expecting rains during pushkarams, and if necessary, we will take help from neighboring Maharashtra to get water,” he added. (NSS)
