Goa By Poll Results: Parrikar Wins, BJP Sweeps

It is a must win for BJP as it does not enjoy a majority on its own in Goa.

Goa: It is a good news for ruling party BJP in Goa as it looks to win two seats in by elections. Goa CM Parrikar won Panaji seat with margin of 4803 votes.

Parrikar after winning the seat said that he will resign for Rajya Sabha seat in next week and thanked people of Goa for supporting him.

He said that connecting with people and performance is the main asset for his win.

By poll was necessitated after Parrikar return to the state from Centre as CM for Goa. In Valpoi, by election was due to the resignation of Rane from Congress and joined BJP. He was awarded with Health Ministry and his win is a moral booster for ruling party BJP in Goa.

Parrikar defeated close aide of Rahul Gandhi, Chodankar. Parrikar is winning Panaji seat from 1994 and in 2014 he resigned to join Centre as Defence Minister.

With two seats results, BJP’s strength in Goa House raised to 14 . Three independents, GFP’s 3 MLAs and MGP’s 3 MLAs are supporting BJP in a 40 members Assembly.

    Good.He won even after church openly said not to vote for BJP.Good for BJP and good for India that people started thinking instead of blindly following instructions from religious institutions.
