Give top priority to public complaints, GHMC chief tells officials
Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dr B Janardhan Reddy has directed the officials to give top priority to complaints received from the people on various problems.
He conducted a review meeting with revenue, development, housing and town planning additional commissioners and engineering officials here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner said the image of the GHMC depends upon solving the complaints lodged by the people. Central Finance Commission praised GHMC for offering best services to the people through e-office, DPMS system and tax collection through cashless transaction, he said. The commissioner directed the deputy commissioners and zonal commissioners to conduct review meeting with the sanitation workers to create awareness among them on using bio-metric system for the attendance as per Swacch Bharat Mission rules.
He suggested to the officials to make the city free from open defecation and urination before March 31, as directed by the Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao. The commissioner directed the deputy commissioners and zonal commissioners to set up She-Toilets under CSR along with business, commercial and corporate companies. He made it clear that the officials have to file cases and impose fines on the persons who throw building construction waste in open places, nalas and water bodies. The commissioner informed that the department would introduce e-challan system similar to police department to impose fines on persons violating the rules. He suggested the officials to create an informer system to get the information about the persons throwing building construction wastage in water bodies.
The commissioner made it clear that there would not be any interest exemption on assets tax this year and asked the officials to create awareness among the people to pay the tax in time. He suggested to the people to pay the assets tax before March 31 to get an exemption from penalty of 24 percent interest. He wanted the zonal and deputy commissioners to meet the persons having huge amounts of tax arrears personally and make them pay the taxes. He asked the officials to concentrate on tax collection as the Swacch Sarvekshan programme was over. He asked the officials to set up special teams for the collection of taxes in every circle. Already the GHMC collected Rs. 800 crores through assets tax and the officials have set up daily targets to collect the remaining arrears. -NSS
