GHMC nets Rs 65cr tax in old currency in 2 days
Hyderabad: GHMC has received Rs 65-crore revenue in the last two days following the decision to accept old currency of Rs 500 and Rs 1000. So far, 30,000 people have paid property tax using old notes. On Friday, the GHMC received Rs 55 crore taxes while on Saturday it collected Rs 10 crores. Of the total property tax payers, 21,000 people come under slab of below Rs 10,000 property tax, 6,854 under Rs 10,000 to 50,000, 1193 under Rs 50,000 to Rs one lakh, 655 under Rs one lakh to Rs 2 lakh, 288 people Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, 38 people five lakh and above slabs.
The GHMC is expected to get more revenue as the state government has extended the date for accepting old notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 till Monday. The GHMC Commissioner appealed to citizens to use the facility to pay their property tax without fine.
Meanwhile, LRS applicants have been advised to clear their dues using old notes at designated banks on or before November 14. They can reach HMDA LRS help desk for necessary guidance and e-payment. They can pay amounts at IOB Extension Counter, HMDA Office, Tarnaka, Axis Bank, Tarnaka, IOB branches at Himayat Nagar, Kotak Bank at Himayat Nagar, according to a pressnote here.
