Gas Prices Remain the Same Even After Internationally Declined
HYDERABAD: Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modias letter to the people was full of falsehood, Congress senior leader and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad contended there was no truth in the Modias statement that prices came down. He pointed out that petrol prices were not reduced even as prices of petrol declined internationally.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Friday, Azad said the increase in petrol prices burdened the people with several crores of rupees. Prices of essential commodities were skyrocketing and rural economy remained destroyed and nationas growth rate slowed down. Modi has failed to fulfill the assurances made during the elections. The increase in Railway charges burdened the people heavily, he alleged.
Speaking about Congress, he said that the party MLAs would cast their votes only to the Congress candidate in the MLC elections. a?I have faith in my party MLAsa?, he said, adding that his doubt was about the political party that was trying to woo Congress MLAs to cast their votes in wrong manner.
Adverting to the TRS Government in Telangana, Azad said while they gave ministerial posts to women in Congress Governments, the TRS Government failed to induct even a single woman in the Chandrasekhar Raoas cabinet. He felt both the NDA and TRS Governments utterly failed to provide job opportunities to the youth. He also alleged that the TRS Government failed to fulfill even a single assurance it made.
Azad said he was ready to meet chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States Chandrababu Naidu and Chandrasekhar Rao, respectively, if they invite him for a?Teaa. He made it clear that he has no enmity with them and opined that character was different from politics.
Azad responded in this manner when the scribes asked him about Telangana CLP leader Jana Reddy meeting with TRS senior leader Keshav Rao recently and stated that there was nothing wrong in it.
Earlier, Azad inducted Nerella Sarada as president of Telangana Mahila Congress at a function held at Gandhi Bhavan. TSPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, working president, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and opposition leaders in Telangana State Legislative Assembly and Council Jana Reddy and Mohd Ali Shabbir, respectively, were present.
