Gangula family quits TDP, joins YSR Congress
Amaravati: Senior leader and ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Allagadda constituency in-charge Gangula Prabhakar Reddy quit the party and joined the Opposition YSR Congress on Wednesday. Giving a big jolt to the ruling party, Prabhakar Reddy joined the YSR Congress along with dozens of ZPTC members and other senior leaders from the Kurnool district in the presence of its president and Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
The Gangula family, which has been very strong in Kurnool politics for decades, had been feeling uncomfortable with the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu admitting Bhuma Nagi Reddy and his daughter Akhila Priya a few months ago. Though Nagi Reddy represents Nandyala Assembly constituency, he has been interfering with the Allagadda constituency represented by his daughter Akhila Priya. The excess interference of Nagi Reddy had been causing a lot of heartburn to the Gangula family who had complained to Chandrababu Naidu on several occasions since Bhuma’s return to the party.
However, as Chandrababu Naidu failed to stand for them in the district politics, the Gangula family took the final call on Wednesday and joined the YSR Congress.
Welcoming the Gangula family and its supporters, Jaganmohan Reddy said that truth and justice would prevail at the end. He said that the State was witnessing a rule of demons and would be corrected shortly. He said that Chandrababu Naidu was resorting to fascist rule in the State. In a democracy, dictatorship had no place and Chandrababu Naidu would be shown the door shortly, he asserted.
Jaganmohan Reddy said that the entry of Gangula family into the YSR Congress is just a beginning and there would be more leaders deserting the ruling TDP in the days to come. The leaders were able to understand the true colours of Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP and would desert the party in the days to come.
