Four-day IRC meet in Hyderabad in Dec
Hyderabad: The Telangana Government is hosting 77th annual conference of Indian Roads Congress in the city for four days from December 15 to 18.
Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma held a high-level review meeting on the congress at the Secretariat on Thursday. Some 2,500 to 3,000 delegates from various states will be attending the event that will focus on road safety, measures to avoid road accidents and plan for smooth and hassle-free travel. Rajiv Sharma asked the GHMC officials to take all steps to set up hoardings for the event. The civic body officials were also asked to take up road repairs and put in good condition all the thoroughfares.
The departments concerned were directed to take up tourism and cultural programmes on the occasion. The police and traffic officials were directed to make foolproof security and traffic arrangements and keep fire tenders ready for the conference.
Principal Secretary, Roads & Buildings, Sunil Sharma said he held meetings with various departments to prepare for the mega event. Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy, Tourism Corporation Managing Director Christina Chongthu and other officials were also present.
