Former Congress MP Ponnam Launches Indefinite Fast for Medical College in Karimnagar

Former Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar launches an indefinite fast to achieve medical college in Karimnagar. Jana Reddy expresses solidarity.

Karimnagar: Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar launched an indefinite fast on Saturday demanding the CM to fulfill the promise of establishing a medical college in the district.

Expressing solidarity with Ponnam, the opposition leader Jana Reddy said that Ponnam launched the indefinite fast to fulfill the aspirations of people.  He criticized that the TRS government completely failed in fulfilling the promises made. A dictatorial rule is being implemented in the state, he alleged.

Stressing his point that permission should be given to launch protests in a democratic country, he reminded how they got permissions for Telangana Dharnas during united Andhra Pradesh regime. If we hadn’t supported, would there had been the human chain and Sakalajanula Samme, he asked.

Jana reminded that he launched a forum with MLAs for achieving Telangana in 1991. He also said that many projects, which were under construction, were launched during Congress regime. Jana clarified that if the TRS government doesn’t establish a medical college, Congress would do it once it comes to power.
