Fadnavis, Amitabh Pick up Brooms At Maha Cleanathon
Mumbai: Seven thousand villages in the State are now open-defecation free, said Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday morning at the NDTV-Dettol Maha Cleanathon, which was glittered by the presence of its campaign ambassador and mega star Amitabh Bachchan.
“In a year’s time, Maharashtra will lead the way in solid waste management,” said Fadnavis.“We will process every bit of garbage.”
Fadnavis said that Maharashtra plans to “have the highest number of Swachh cities.” Later, he and Bachchan picked up the brooms and began wielding them to participate in the cleanathon.
Amitabh Bachchan hailed Maharashtra as an “example for India” and said,“We hope this movement continues and we keep our cities clean.”
