Educating The Illiterates In Digital Transactions
Siddipeta: Telangana State Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has embarked upon a huge exercise of educating the people in his constituency, Siddipeta, on digital transactions.
He addressed a meeting of workers on Sunday lecturing them about demonetization and the consequences. He explained the difficulties faced by illiterate women who don’t have smart phones or bank accounts. He has introduced a token system in vegetable market. There is a micro ATM at the entrance. The executives operating the system would ask for Aadhaar number and gives tokens of five rupees and ten rupees. He also assured the beedi workers that he would arrange RuPay cards for all of them. It can be used as an ATM card. They can do transactions with the card and also withdraw money from their accounts.
The Minister has asked the shekedars and union leaders to help the beedi workers in getting used to digital transactions. Harish Rao also assured them that the government officials would help the workers in opening their bank accounts.
Later, the Minister has addressed another meeting of dairy farmers, Shepherds, fertiliser dealers and pesticides dealers in the afternoon. Poultry farmers and the workers of market yards were also present in the meeting. He explained the measures that have been taken and contemplated to overcome the difficulties arisen due to the decision of demonetisation.
