Dubbaka by-poll: Campaign picks up

Congress leaders descend on Dubbak

Harish Rao ahead of others

BJP candidates complains of phone-tapping

The Congress high command has finalized the name of Cheruku Srinivasa Reddy as the party candidate in Dubbaka Assembly by-election. The campaign has picked up pace all of a sudden with the Congress leaders descending on the rural constituency in large number. Telangana Finance Minister T. Harish Rao has already been on the campaign mode for weeks.

Sujata gets B-form from KCR

The by-poll is being held in the wake of the demise of MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy, a former journalist, who was representing the constituency for the fourth time. His wife Sujata is being fielded by the ruling TRS. She was handed over the B-form on Wednesday by Chief Minister and TRS chief Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) at his residence. Harish Rao, Medak MP Kotha Prabhakara Reddy, Medak MLA Padma Devender Reddy were present at Pragati Bhavan (KCR’s residence) when Sujata took the B-form.

BJP candidate announced

The BJP State president Bandi Sanjay announced on Wednesday that the party candidate in Dubbaka by-poll would be M. Raghunandan Rao. Rao is contesting for the seat for the third time. Earlier he lost to Ramalinga Reddy in 2014 and 2019. He has increased the pace of his campaign.

PCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy had started his campaign in the rural constituency. Former minister and PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, formerminister Shabbir Ali and former MP V. Hanumanta Rao also accompanied him. Uttam had promised

unemployment allowance to the youth. Since the people are fearing the Land Regularization Scheme(LRS) they are sure to vote for the Congress, Hanumantha Rao said.

Manickam motivates

Manickam Tagore, AICC in charge of Telangana State, was able to bring all the faction leaders together and motivate them to work with  a purpose. He deployed them in the constituency. It is a do-or-die order for the Congress leaders who have been languishing in Opposition for more than six years. There is a perceptible change in the attitude of the State-level Congress leaders after the young leader from Tamil Nadu Manickam Tagore took over the charge recently.

Harish Rao told a gathering of party workers that Srinivasa Reddy had left the TRS since he did not get a ticket. The BJP and the Congress are fighting for the second position. He promised KCR that he would get one lakh majority for Sujata.

RAghunandan Rao had complained that his telephone is being tapped with the help of intelligence department and Harish Rao is behind it. Leaders have been reaching Dubbaka in droves. They are staying in lodges which are fully occupied and some of the leaders have taken houses on rent in Siddipet and Gajwel. The polling will take place on November 3.
