HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao today warned the leader of the opposition, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy not to interrupt the business and not try to take the House into his hands.
Kodela stated categorically that the opposition YSRCP was always trying to adopt a strategy of maintaining silence while Jagan and his party members were speaking and disrupting the business when Ministers were speaking. When Ministers or ruling party Members are speaking, Jagan is forcing his members into the well of the House, in order to disrupt the functioning of the House. Kodela advised Jagan that it was not good for the society, and suggested that he should allow the ministers to reply to the queries that were raised by members in the House and then ask any clarification if required.
The disappointed opposition walked out of the House.
Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu urged the Speaker to rescue the treasury benches from the opposition party’s undemocratic strategy of not allowing Ministers to respond for the doubts raised by members.
During debate on the grants for budget demands relating to welfare of SC, ST, BC, Minority and Women, YSRCP Member Eswari criticized that chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu neglected the welfare of STs in the state. Replying to her, Tribal welfare minister Ravela Kishore Babu said that former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy used the poor Tribal people as vote bank and looted them after getting power. He also blamed that, the precious mines and natural resources of the Tribal people were brutally exploited by YS family.
Ravela alleged that YSR diverted the SC, ST funds to develop Hussain Sagar Lake and other works, but Chandrababu Naidu is working towards welfare and development of the vulnerable sections in the society including SC, ST, BCs.
Jagan argued that the government did not allocate sufficient funds for implementing pension scheme and other welfare schemes. He said that during YSR’s rule, he gave utmost priority to SCs and STs, but Chandrababu Naidu allocated meager funds for them and it was no way adequate.
YSRCP Member Mutyala Naidu criticized that Chandrababu Naidu did not join the TDP when it was founded by former chief minister NT Ramarao, since he didn’t have faith and confidence in NTR. Mutyala Naidu also said that after NTR, the only leader who worked for welfare of the downtrodden was YSR.
Minister for agriculture Prathipati Pullarao stated that A P is the only state in India which presented the first BC Sub- Plan in the budget for the welfare of BCs. He said that all this credit goes to Chandrababu Naidu.
BJP floor leader Vishnukumar Raju urged government to make some budgetary allocations to the economically backward people in the category of forward classes. He urged government to initiate necessary measures for betterment of health conditions in Visakapatnam rural areas. (NSS)
