Tiger Memon called up his mother Hanifa Memon on July 30th at around 5.35 am. This was half hour after the final judgment of Apex court. Tiger called up their residence and had a heart to heart conversation with his mother which lasted for about 30 minutes. He was upset about the decision to hang his brother Yakub and wanted to take revenge.

Initially the call was connected by some unknown people and after taking a cue that it was safe to talk, Tiger spoke to his mother. Hanifa Begum was initially reluctant to take the call but later was convinced to accept the call. Tiger Memon tried consoling his mother who was reportedly sobbing heavily throughout the conversation at the loss of her son. He consoled her that he would revenge his brother’s death. However Hanifa Begum was not happy about this idea. Hanifa asked her son to stop the cycle of violence. According to the recorded transcript, Hanifa goes on to say Tiger that she can’t bear losing more people, wherein Yakub would be hanged in an hour from then.

According to the reports in the same English daily, the call lasted around three minutes and was made over VOIP. However, according to the report, Mumbai police has been unable to trace the IP from where the call was made. On record though, the officials are not confirming this interaction.  The newspaper quoted additional Chief Secretary (Home) as saying, “Neither the Maharashtra DGP nor the central agencies have given us any such reports”. We will verify the news reports.
