Devineni Nehru gets into action, meets CM, Kala
Amaravati: Former minister Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru, who had quit the Congress and joined the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) recently along with a huge contingent of his supporters, finally got into action. He has set his eyes on the three Assembly constituencies that are held by the Opposition YSR Congress and is planning to strengthen the party there. The party leadership too has authorized him to work and strengthen the party in Tiruvur, Nuzvid and Gudivada where the YSRCP MLAs have won in the 2014 elections.
Rajasekhar Nehru met TDP national president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the party’s AP president K Kalavenkata Rao where he shared his views on strengthening the party in the three Assembly segments. Though the TDP had lost in Pamarru and Vijayawada West Assembly constituencies too, the legislators from these two segments, Uppuleti Kalpana and Jaleel Khan have defected to the ruling party leaving K Rakshananidhi from Tiruvur, Meka Pratap Apparao from Nuzvid and Kodali Nani from Gudivada with the YSR Congress.
The TDP now has set its eyes on these three Assembly segments and assigned the task of strengthening the party here to Rajasekhar Nehru. The former minister has good support in the three segments as he had worked as the party secretary for the Krishna district unit in 1990s along with late Ambati Brahmanaiah who was then the district unit president. Rajasekhar Nehru also commands the support of a good number of political activists in the district and that is set to come as an advantage for him.
The former minister had held long discussions separately with Chandrababu Naidu and Kala Venkata Rao and is meeting party national general secretary Nara Lokesh in Guntur on Friday. Backed by a strong team of supporters, Rajasekhar Nehru is set to play key role in the district TDP in the days to come.
