Dalai Lama’s security team visits Amaravati

Amaravati: A team of personal security staff of Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama visited the venue of the first Women Parliamentary Convention to be held for three days from February 10. As Dalai Lama is set to visit the convention, the personal security staff of the spiritual leader inspected the venue and the arrangements being made there. They have also inspected the helipad provided at the venue for Dalai Lama and the guest room arranged at the venue and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.
Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, who conceived the idea and made all the arrangements, including selection of the guests and speakers for the event, which is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reviewed the arrangements at the venue. He also addressed series of meetings in the city on the day preparing people, particularly the women representatives, for the meeting.
The Speaker participated in a round table meeting organized by the Andhra Pradesh Journalists Forum and a meet-the-press organized by the AP Union of Working Journalists, where he said that the event is aimed at the empowerment of women. He said that the event would help in creating awareness among women to take active part in politics.
He said that successful women across the world are invited to be present and speak at the three-day convention. “The presence of women leaders would certainly inspire the women leaders in the state,” he said.
He emphasized the need to protect girl child, end child abuse and women trafficking and exploitation of women. He stressed the need to create opportunities for women to play active role in public life.
