Dada Saheb Phalke Award For Viswanath

Famous film director and actor K Viswanath will receive Dada Saheb Ohalke Award from President Pranab Mukherjee on May 3rd.

New Delhi: Ace film director K Viswanath of ‘Sankarabhranam’ fame has been selected for Dada Saheb Phalke Award for 2016. He will receive the award from President Pranab Mukherjee on May 3rd.

Viswanath who has the title ‘Kalatapaswi’ is known for making legendary movies based on music, culture and tradition. He was awarded Padma Shri. He received Filmfare award for the best director. He worked for Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films.

Kasinathuni Viswanath was born on 19 February 1930 at a small village near Repalle in Guntur district. He started his career in film industry as a sound engineer. Then he took to direction in which he distinguished himself. Later he became an actor. Besides the magnum opus Sankarabharanam, ‘Sagara Sangamam’ was a classic in Telugu. Saptapadi was another musical hit from him.

His Hindi films include Sargam, Kaamchor, Jag Utah Insaan and Eeshwar.

Jagan Congratulates Phalke Awardee Viswanath

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has called on Dada Saheb Phalke Award winner K Viswanath and congratulated him on the great achievement. YSJ visited the famous film director at the latter’s residence in Film Nagar here on Friday morning. He also received the blessings of Kala Tapasvi. Jagan has greeted the ace director with a flower bouquet.

Jagan has told Viswanath that members of his family are ardent admirers of the director and his films. He said the award should have come to him long ago.  Viswanath said he is happy he was given the award when he is able to see, hear and walk unlike  some of the other awardees who were not able to see or hear when they received the award. He suggested that the recognition should be bestowed on persons who are relatively young and who could be inspired by the award to work with additional commitment st least for two decades.

Sakshi Editorial Director K Ramachandra Murthy and Tollywood channel CEO Maa Sarma also were present.

Viswanath Felicitated By President Pranab

Ace film director K Viswanath was presented with Phalke Award by President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday in Delhi.

New Delhi: Ace director K Viswanath has been presented with Dada Saheb Phalke Award by President Pranab Mukherjee here on Wednesday. As part of the 64th national film awards, Pranab has felicitated the directed who was committed to promoting Indian music and culture through cinema.

Viswanath was given a rare opportunity to speak after receiving the award. Viswanath who started his short speech with ‘Endaroo Mahaanubhaavulu, Andariki Dhanyavaadaalu’. He thanked all his admirers across the world.

Union Information & Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has complimented Viswanath on this occasion. He said Viswanath’s films don’t show violence and obscenity. Viswanath had received national award for his magnum opus, Shankarabharanam. He also got ten Filmfare awards and six Nandi awards.

Dada Saheb Phalke Award is given to those who made extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema. This award was instituted by Information & Broadcasting Ministry in 1969. A Golden lotus, a shawl and ₹10 lakh were presented to Viswanath. Earlier, this coveted award was received by LV Prasad, Nagi Reddy, BN Reddy and Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Shantaram and other stalwarts were chosen for this award from Hindi cinema industry.

Pawan Kalyan Congratulates K Viswanath

Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram met celebrity director K Viswanath to congratulate him on getting Phalke award. Pawan says it is proud moment for every South Indian.

Hyderabad: Honouring the veteran filmmaker K Viswanath who won Dada Saheb Phalke Award, actor Pavan Kalyan and filmmaker Trivikram announced the release of 12 handpicked movies of the director as limited edition.

After meeting and congratulating Viswanath for achieving the country’s highest award in the cinema on Wednesday, Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram announced their decision to facilitate the release of the disk.

Speaking to media after meeting Viswanath, he termed it a proud moment for every south Indian. Stating that he is not that experienced nor has the stature to talk about such a tall person, Pawan said that he was very happy for Viswanath Sir.

Saying that sankarabharanam had changed his perception towards Carnatic music, Pawan recalled how much he appreciated western music as a kid. The very film changed my perception towards classical music, he added.

“This honour for Viswanath only enhanced my respect for awards,” said Trivikram.
