Curbs on New Year revelers in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, December 24: The city police on Wednesday announced imposition of curbs on revelers on New Year Day eve to maintain peace and public order.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand has announced that all flyovers in the city would be closed for vehicular traffic from 11 pm to 5 am on the night of December 31. The police have set 1 am as the deadline for the New Year parties. DJs should take permissions and special barracks have to be set up for women, who are taking part in the celebrations, he added.
Besides installing check-posts at various places to check rash and drunken driving, the police also imposed traffic restrictions on several other roads leading towards Tank Bund which has become a favourite hub for the New Year revelers.
The Cyberabad police have also imposed curbs on “New Year eve 2015 programme” in hotels, resorts and pubs. The police said there are 25 star hotels, three pubs, 22 resorts and 269 farm houses in Cyberabad limits i.e. under Madhapur, Shamshabad and Balanagar Zones.
Wishing the people a Happy New Year 2015 in advance, the Cyberabad police framed rules and regulations for conduct of New Year eve parties in an orderly and safe manner. The programs should be organized between 8 pm and 1 am, they said. Only couples of the registered members and their acquaintances are permitted. No single person (male or female) shall be allowed to enter the venue. Besides, no activities falling under the A.P. Gaming Act 1974 shall be organized. D.J. will not be permitted. Display of nude dances/acts/films, obscene gestures and so on are strictly prohibited.
No obscene posters, nude/semi-nude advertisements in daily News Papers or on hoardings or in any media etc., shall be used in the marketing of the event. Liquor shall not be served without any valid License/permission by the competent authority i.e., Excise Department. Use of Fire Arms is strictly prohibited. Video record preferably (CD) of the minute to minute proceedings with built in time and date line from 8 pm to 1 am till the dispersal of the audience shall be submitted to the Office of the C.P. Cyberabad for inspection within two days of the completion of each program.
Burning of crackers is strictly prohibited. Smoke extinguishers and water should be arranged to prevent fire accidents. Adequate arrangements for Toilets and other hygienic requirements shall be made. Adequate lighting and seating arrangements shall be made. Public address system should be kept at a low volume and the speakers should be placed in a manner that people outside the venue are not affected. The organizers should use only box type speakers.
People are advised not to resort to drunken driving because it may pose serious threat to the life of individuals in the vehicle and on the other road users. In this regard, massive vehicle checking will be carried out on the ORR and other highways for drunken driving and to impose speed limits.
