CS tells collectors to boost cashless transactions
Hyderabad: Telangana State Chief Secretary K Pradeep Chadra has directed all the district collectors to take necessary measures to educate people on cashless transactions in the wake of demonetization.
At a video conference from Secretariat on Saturday, the CS asked the collectors to create awareness among people of towns and villages and encourage them to use plastic money. His remarks assume significance since scrapping of notes, coupled with non-availability of new Rs 500, Rs 100 and Rs 50 notes, has led to a sort of confusion and chaos among the people. So, it is time to educate the people on cashless transactions.
The Chief Secretary said the collectors and bankers should sort out the issue of demonetization besides taking steps to offer money through banks and ATMs. Reacting on complaints from across the state that the banks are denying money to customers and long queues before banks, Pradeep Chandra asked the collectors to hold meetings with bankers and ensure money is made available to the people. At the same time, the government is coming up with plans to provide sufficient number of swiping machines and equipment for regular business and transactions at multiple outlets, he said. -NSS
