CRPF to appoint Sindhu as brand ambassador

New Delhi:  CRPF is set to appoint Olympic Silver medallist P.V. Sindhu as its honorary Commandant and brand ambassador.

The Central Reserve Police Force has moved a formal proposal to Union Home Ministry in this regard. After obtaining home ministry approval, the central force will honour her with rank badges and combat fatigues at a ceremonial event.

P V Sindhu’s consent has been obtained.

After appointing her as brand ambassador, Sindhu would be asked to hold motivational sessions with troops when she is free from playing.

A Commandant rank is equivalent to Superintendent of Police, and a battalion of 1000 personnel comes under its operational command.

CRPF, a 3 lakh strong force, has the credit of raising an all-woman battalion way back in 1987, with 4 contingents. It is hoped that Sindhu’s appointment will motivate personnel to do better and send a message on women empowerment
