Congress sets NDA effigy on fire for horse trading in Goa, Manipur
Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Congress held a protest against the NDA government’s unethical politics in preventing the Congress from forming governments in Goa and Manipur States where the party had emerged as the single largest party in the recent elections.
Led by AP Mahila Congress president Sunkara Padmasri, and Krishna district Congress president Dhanekula Murali Mohan Rao, the Congress activists raised slogans against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government at the Center. They accused the BJP leadership of misusing the Governor’s office by not following the tradition of inviting the leader of the single largest party to form the government. They said that the Congress had emerged as the single largest party in both the State Assemblies. However, they said that the Governors of both the States have invited the BJP leaders to form the government thus encouraging defections.
Padmasri accused the BJP leaders of being power monger and defeating the peoples’ mandate given in the elections. Though the Congress had not secured majority in the Assemblies, the party was ahead of the BJP and was the single largest party, she said. She criticized the BJP leadership for ignoring the Constitutional obligations and standing practices in the country by not inviting the single largest party to form the government.
