Congress celebrates T Bill Passing Day
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee today celebrated the first anniversary of the passage of the AP Reorganisation Act in the Rajya Sabha on the same day last year. Party leaders asserted that the Telangana State was formed only because of Congress president Sonia Gandhias determination.
TPCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah said the A. P. Reorganisation Act, which brought cheer to Telangana people, was passed due to the unwavering efforts of AICC President Sonia Gandhi at the cost of partyas future. He said people gave a big mandate to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) with high expectations from K. Chandrasekhar Rao but he had utterly failed to live up to their confidence.
He said that because of lack of planned campaign and coordination among the party leaders and cadre, the Congress encountered a debacle in the 2014 general elections. He described the Chief Ministeras move to ban media in the Secretariat was atrocious.
The Congress leaders marched from Gandhi Bhavan to Gun Park opposite the Assembly and offered homage to the Telangana martyrs. City Congress president and former minister Danam Nagender warned KCR that the Congress would give a fitting lesson in the coming GHMC elections. Another senior leader D. Srinivas said Sonia Gandhi took the decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh independently and nobody influenced her. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly K. Jana Reddy accused the TRS government of not working for development of the State. He also exuded confidence that his party would return to power in 2019.
Senior Congress leaders, including Mohammad Shabbir Ali, V. Hanumanth Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Mallu Ravi, Madhu Yashki Goud, Suresh Shetkar, S. Rajaiah, P. Sabita Indra Reddy, D K Aruna and rank and file of the party also participated in the program. (NSS)
