Cong leaders call note ban a big scam
Medak / Karimnagar: Senior Congress leader J Geetha Reddy has lashed out at the Central government for demonetizing big notes. She called it a ‘big scam.’ Small traders and people were facing a lot of hardships with the demonetization of big notes, she said. She alleged that it was a unilateral decision.
Former Minister Sunitha Laxma Reddy said that the IT sleuths seized huge amounts of new notes in BJP leaders’ houses and demanded stringent action against them. As part of dharnas in front of collectorate offices across the Telangana State, Geetha Reddy and Sunitha staged a dharna in front of Medak District Collectorate office.
In Karimnagar, police arrested Congress leaders T Jeevan Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Arepally Mohan, Katakam Mruthyunjayam and Nerella Sharada when they were staging a dharna in front of the collectorate protesting against the demonetization.
Jeevan Reddy asked the Central government to tell as to where is the black money in the nation as already Rs.15 lakh crores was deposited in banks. “It clearly proved that the decision of demonetization of big notes was a wrong decision”, he said and alleged that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao mortgaged Telangana State to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to exchange the black money for white. The Congress party will not keep quiet while seeing the injustices done by the Central government, he said.
AICC leader Jayaprakash questioned Modi to tell as to why he failed to respond to the allegations leveled by the AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Stating that the RBI had changed rules several times after the demonetization announcement, former MP Ponnam Prabhakar ridiculed the Centre saying that the Centre caught a mouse by digging a huge mountain. The Prime Minister’s December 31 speech didn’t satisfy anyone in the nation, he said. -NSS
