Combing in Arvapally continues
HYDERABAD: A massive multi-pronged combing operation has been launched by the Telangana Police to smoke out one more suspected terrorist believed to be holed in the hillocks of Nalgonda district which was scene of two bloody shooting incidents in two terrorist operatives of SIMI were gunned down and three police personnel lost their lives.
Based on crucial inputs provided by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and National Investigation Agency (NIA), the elite Greyhounds Police of the Telangana State have formed into teams and conducting vigorous searches in Nalgonda district and also parts of the neighboring Warangal district to track down one more SIMI operative, believed to be an accomplice of the two terrorists a�� Mohammed Aijazuddeen and Mohammed Aslama��who were gunned down in an encounter in Arvapally of Nalgonda district.
It might be mentioned here that the two killed terrorists were stated to be involved in shooting down a police constable and a home guard at the Hi-Tech bus station in Suryapet on Thursday. The two terrorist SIMI activists, who were among the six-member gang which had escaped from Khandwa Jail in Madhya Pradesh in 2013, were stated to have been involved in a series of robberies, dacoities, looting of banks, bomb attacks etc in different parts of the country and also in Telangana State.
The investigating authorities including the IB and NIA sleuths after interrogating a number of villagers in Suryapet and Arvapally and also after questioning the Mouilvi of the Dargah in ArvapallyA� stated to believe that one more SIMI activist might have joined the two killed in the Arvapally encounter and might be on the run and hiding in Nalgonda district or in the nearby district A train ticket found at the scene of encounter in Arvapally seemed to have strengthened the belief that there might have been an accomplice to the two dead terrorists.
Tension and fear gripped the people living in Arvapally and surrounding villages what with the massive combing operation and the presence of scores of gun-trotting policemen besides speculations about the possibility of some more SIMI activists on the run.
As a matter of fact after the shooting incident in Suryapet and the subsequent encounter in Arvapally in Nalgonda district has place both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States on high alert. The police in both the states have stepped up frisking and checking at public places, bus depots, railway stations etc.
Even as a massive manhunt is on in both the Telugu States, a revolver-wielding person robbing some persons in NandigamaA� of Krishna district created a sensation . Soon speculations began to float that the person with the revolver who is on the run might be a SIMIU activist.
According to a complaint lodged in the Office of the DSP at Nandigama, the suspect wielding a revolver waylaid a motor-cyclist at Hanumanthapalem of Nandigama and robbed him of gold ornaments. He even reportedly threatened the motor-cyclist of dire consequences if the matter was informed to the police. The suspect was stated to have earlier thumbed a lift in a car at Gollapudi and got down at Hanumanthaplaem not before relieving the motorist of his ornaments. Later he waylaid the motor-cyclist.
On receipt of information about the incident, the Krishna district police have commenced immediate search operations on the Jagayyapet-Nandigama highway and surrounding areas. The police authorities in the district feel that it might be a case of dacoits, they did not want to leave anything to chance after the shooting and encounter incidents in Nalgonda district. (NSS)
