CI among 10 held in money exchange racket, 7 on the run

Hyderabad:A�In a joint operation, the Banjara Hills police and West Zone Assistant Commissionera��s Task Force Team have busted a 17-member dacoit gang and apprehended 10 members while seven were absconding. The police also seized Rs 52 lakh cash (all Rs 2,000 notes), one Scorpio car, one Indica Vista car, a toy gun and seven mobile phones from their possession.

According to West Zone DCP, 10 out of 17 accused were arrested, who are identified as principal accused (A1) Peddamukkulla Tirumalesh Naidu of MLA Colony, Road No. 12 Banjara Hills; Accused No. 2 Yerramshetty Rajashekar, additional inspector of police, attached to Tappachabutra police station; Yerra Anil Kumar alias Appu (A6) of Brahmanwadi, Begumpet (fake constable in plain clothes); Allari Praveen Kumar (A-7) of Brahmanwadi; Ganugu Balakrishna (A8) driver of crime vehicle Scorpio; Chavakula Raju (A-9) of Allamthota Bhavi; Endri Anand (A-10) of BJR Colony, Balkampet; Ramagiri Praveen (A-11) of Brahmanwadi, Begumpet; Kondarajulu Saikumar (A-11) of Brahmanwadi and Meghawat Raju (A-17) of LB Nagar. Absconding accused are: Naresh of Begumpet (A-3); Dinakar (A-4) of Erragadda (fake constable in plain clothes); Praveen of JNTU Kukatpally (A-5) acted as fake SI in plain clothes; Maddela Santosh (A-12); Srikanth (A-13); Khaja (A-14) and Y Narsing Rao alias Chinnanna (A-15).

The DCP said on December 2, one Laxman Agarwal, an Airtel Distributer at Kothagudem lodged a complaint with Banjara Hills police stating that on December 1 he brought money to Hyderabad for money exchange at a guest houseA� at Film Nagar. A mediator Satish called Raju and Raju called Tirumalesh Naidu. Suddenly seven persons entered the guest house, one of them was in police uniform and introduced himself as inspector. They threatened him and took Rs 30 lakh from him and returned Rs 10 lakh to him.

Meanwhile, two more victims i.e. Sanki Manakya Reddy of Gadwal District and Ambati Venkatesh Babu of Ananthapur came to PS and stated they were also looted Rs. 25 lakhs and Rs.13 lakhs respectively in similar way in the same incident. One more victim Satish, who allegedly lost Rs.10 Lakhs has not come to PS.

They hired a room at Suyasai guesthouse at Film Nagar and used a Scorpio for mobilizing other accused. As pre-planned, the accused gatecrashed into the guesthouse and looted the complainant.-NSS
