Cheat who took Ola drivers for a ride held
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda SOT has apprehended one person, who was allegedly cheating Ola cab drivers and seized Rs 14,000 cash, three cell phones and one ATM card from his possession. The accused has been identified as Ragipani Prudhvi alias Sai Kumar, 28, of Saroornagar.
Police said the accused got an idea to earn easy money while travelling in an Ola cab along with his friend. Subsequently, he used to book Ola cab and ask the driver to drop him at some police station. He used to go inside the police station and come back to tell the driver that his father was a sub-inspector working in that station and was not present there. The accused also used to ask the driver to give him some money and that he will return on reaching his destination. If the driver did not have cash with him, he used to request him to give his credit/debit card and take the money from ATMs.
After taking money he used to go to some government office like MRO or Sub-Registrar and ask the driver to wait and escape. In this manner the accused has cheated eight Ola cab drivers, the police said. In one incident, the accused also stole driver’s cell phone and ATM card. Two cases were registered against the accused at LB Nagar Police Station. -NSS
