Charmy Moves High Court Over Her Interrogation
Hyderabad: Actress Charmy Kaur, who has been summoned by the Special Investigation Team in the sensational drugs case, has approached the High Court on Monday seeking its intervention on her mode of interrogation.
The actress, who had promised the Excise Enforcement Department that she would cooperate with SIT, has thus taken a U turn. The advocate representing her pleaded the High Court that it direct the department not to collect her blood, nail and hair samples without her absolute permission under Article 20 Sub Clause 3.
SIT has already collected blood samples of director Puri Jagannadh, cameraman Syam K Naidu, actors Subbarju and Tarun.
Charmy, in her petition, described the SIT investigation as objectionable and sought permission for her advocate to be present with her during her interrogation. The petition will be heard on Tuesday. She is expected to present herself before the SIT on Wednesday.
According to reliable sources, SIT has not been able to get any hard evidence of any of the film celebrities being drug peddlers. Except the fact that they procured drugs from Calvin, the prime accused in the case, they have no evidence that the actors sold or transported drugs.
Meanwhile, questions are being asked why the Telugu film celebrities are being questioned for hours together and the methods the SIT is using for its enquiries. More: AP Forming Task Force To Prevent Drug Peddling
The petition filed by Charmy has become crucial in this context.
It is the turn of actor Navdeep to be interrogated on Monday. There are allegations that he used to supply drugs to others in the film fraternity. His guest house had been raided last year and some liquor bottles seized.
