No Bar On Bars In Naidu’s Land: AP Provides One Bar For Every 30,000 Citizens

While his promise to ensure ₹ 10,000 monthly income for every household is still to become a reality, AP CM Naidu’s government had cleared the proposal to give permission for opening a new bar in urban areas for every 30,000 population.
No Bar On Bars In Naidu's Land: AP Provides One Bar For Every 30,000 Citizens

Velagapudi: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had cleared the proposal to issue permission for opening new bars in the urban areas across the State. The State’s  cities and towns would get new bars, one each for every 30,000 people. The Cabinet had also cleared the proposal to allow liquor consumption across the counters at the bars, like in the Western countries, where the bartender mixes drinks as desired by the customers. These bars would have music where the customers can shake their legs too and enjoy the drink.

Minister for Excise, K S Jawahar, had mooted the proposal to increase the number of bars for the urban areas and also introduction of the Western style bars claiming that it would attract the tourists and make the bars live. These live bars with the changed and attractive ambiance are expected to draw a huge number of tourists to the State.

The new liquor policy was cleared by the Cabinet, thus giving a new bar for every 30,000 people, while the government’s much-talked about programme of giving ₹ 10,000 monthly income to every household is yet to see the light. The schemes like job for each family too are yet to be a reality on this land of “Best State in the Country” and the Sunrise State of India.

Among other major decisions taken by the Cabinet, the Telugu Desam Party headed by Chandrababu Naidu was given 3.65 acres of land at Atmakuru village of Mangalagiri in the capital region to build the party office, a replication or duplication of the NTR Trust Bhavan of Hyderabad. The TDP would pay ₹ 1,000 per acre per year to the government for this land and it would own it for the next 99 years.

The ruling TDP is the first political party to get the government land in the new capital. The other political parties are yet to have their share from the land that was taken from the farmers in Land Pooling System.

The Cabinet had also granted permission to the AP Road Development Corporation to avail ₹ 3,000 crore loan from the HUDCO to develop and maintain the roads – rural, urban and national highways – in the State. The State government would stand guarantee for the corporation to get the loan from the HUDCO.

All the roads in the rural areas are now brought under this corporation through the AP Rural Roads Maintenance Policy, which was adopted by the Cabinet.

Jagan Getting Ready With A Master Stroke Against Naidu

AP opposition lead YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is returning from his foreign trip to use the weapon provided by Amit Shah.

Hyderabad: YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who will return from New Zealand very soon will hit Naidu with a master stroke as per political analysts. Thanks to Amit Shah who gave way to Jagan for this opportunity.

When Amit Shah toured AP, he claimed that centre has given ₹ 1.5 lakh crore to ₹ 2.3 lakh crore to AP for the past three years.

Naidu, who is partner of BJP did not condemn the statement by Shah as was done by KCR. This will be propagated by YSRC. With this TDP will be cornered and Jagan will benefit. On the other hand, Naidu in a speech at Amaravati on Sunday said that the Centre has given only ₹ 3980 crores for the development of the state.

There is no matching of numbers between Shah’s and Naidu’s statements. We have to see how Jagan will take this into public to encash the anti incumbency and false statements of TDP government.

Naidu At Catch 22, To Be Or Not To Be With BJP

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu is in a catch-22 situation in his relationship with the enigmatic Prime Minister Modi. He has been swallowing insults unable to sever ties with the BJP.

Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu is in a tricky situation, a catch 22 dilemma,  not being able to decide whether to swallow insults  or to rebel. He has every reason to call off the alliance with the BJP. His heart tells him to sever ties with the BJP and build bridges with the Left parties. But his mind cautions him against the adventure since Narendra Modi is very clever and he remains the most powerful politician in the country unlike Vajpayee or Advani with whom Naidu played games.

In the past when the TDP was a partner with the BJP, Naidu had a royal reception in Delhi. He met Prime Minister Vajpayee or Deputy Prime Minister Advani at will. Even his party colleague Erran Naidu used to talk to the prime minister straight on phone at any length.

Things are entirely different today. Naidu badly wanted to meet Modi before going to the US. Union Minister of State Sujana Chowdary tried his best for two days to get an appointment of the PM for his party leader but in vain.

To rub salt on the wound, the prime minister chose to spend an hour with Naidu’s bête noire YS Jagan Mohan Reddy when he (Naidu) was away in the US. Emerging out of prime minister’s residence, Jagan said he had no differences with the PM excepting on two issues, Special Category Status for AP and remunerative prices for agricultural yield. The young opposition leader declared his unconditional support to the NDA candidate in the forthcoming presidential election. This is strange because even the NDA partners like Shiv Sena are yet to announce their commitment.

This new-found bonhomie between Modi and Jagan has naturally caused envy and a feeling of insecurity among the TDP leaders. Ministers like Devineni Umamaheswara Rao have attacked Jagan for genuflecting at Modi for the fear of criminal cases. They found fault with the PM for granting interview to Jagan while the BJP is in alliance with the TDP. In the meanwhile, Andhra Jyothi, considered to be favourable to Naidu, has published a story saying that Jagan has submitted a letter  to Modi requesting for action to be taken against the officers of Enforcement Directorate stationed in Chennai and Hyderabad, Gowd and Gandhi respectively) for acting to the advantage of Naidu. Union Home Ministry is looking into the complaint. The newspaper accused Jagan of meeting the PM for seeking personal favour and not to represent the people. The next day, Karunakara Reddy, YSRCP leader, told a media conference that the representation quoted by the newspaper is an old one that was sent to the PM in February and in the latest letter handed over to the PM by Jagan on May 10, the opposition leader has demanded remunerative price for farm output and Special Category status among other things.

Naidu returned from the US trip in this atmosphere. He stayed back in Delhi to consult friends in legal fraternity. The Supreme Court had earlier issued notices to Naidu in ‘note for vote’ case. He is concerned about it. On his return to Amaravati, Naidu spoke disapproving the meeting between Modi and Jagan ridiculing the latter for trying to curry favour with the PM to avoid punitive action by ED and the CBI.

This discourse against PM meeting the AP opposition leader did not go well with the BJP. Local BJP leaders were forced to criticise TDP leaders for their disparaging remarks against their supreme leader, Modi.

M Venkaiah Naidu, who has been helping Chandrababu Naidu in maintaining good relations with Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) was cut up with the loose talk indulged in by the TDP leaders. He said on Saturday that there is nothing wrong with the PM meeting an opposition leader from a state. The controversy is the result of lack of understanding of political formalities and niceties. Venkaiah Naidu also clarified that the decision to have or not to have an electoral tie-up with the TDP will be taken by the BJP at the time of next elections in 2019.

These developments have caused unease for Chandrababu Naidu. For almost one year Naidu could not talk to Modi one-on-one despite many attempts. The enigmatic nature of Modi has been keeping Naidu guessing. This has not been his experience with Vajpayee. The impending visit of BJP president Amit Shah has been causing apprehensions among the TDP leaders. The BJP leadership has been trying to build the party at grassroots level. The booth committees have been formed. Amit Shah during his 3-day tour of AP starting May 25 is going to address the members of the booth committees. The growth of the BJP is going to be only at the cost of the TDP. And Naidu knows it better than anybody else. Against this background, Naidu has been scratching his head not knowing what to do.

AP To Be Made Technology Hub, Naidu

CM Naidu said that his 10-day US visit helped him to rope in technology companies to make the state a technology hub. He said solar and wind energy storage reached a new milestone.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in the middle

Amaravati: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that the state would become a technology hub in the years to come.

Briefing the media on Saturday upon his return from US, Naidu said he had mobilized a few leading technology companies to have their operations in Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu said that the technology companies in US have highest standards and a good number of them have Telugu NRIs in higher positions. He said his interactions with the Telugu NRIs helped him get clearances from several IT companies to have their operations in the state.

Naidu also claimed that his visit to US had given him the highest satisfaction, as he was able to project the state as the best option for them to invest, and asserted that several companies have accepted his invitation.

The major breakthrough was the plans to have solar and wind power storage facilities, he said. This would give an opportunity for the state to not to increase the power tariff in the future, as the state would be power surplus, he said.

The chief minister reiterated that his initiatives in 1998 in the power sector were now paying dividends, despite the previous Congress government destroying the sector.

Naidu took a strong exception to the opposition party in the state for sending emails to US officials creating a law and order problem. He said that the Telugu speaking people were disturbed with the emails. Without naming the YSR Congress as responsible for it, the chief minister pointed an accusing finger at the party, and asserted that the state police would expose them.

The chief minister also took a dig at Jagan Mohan Reddy’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi without an agenda. He wanted to know why Jagan kept the meeting in dark till the last minute. He said that Jagan must have met prime minister to seek his help in rescuing him from the CBI cases as the Central Government is going tough with such cases.

Naidu also referred to the hawala case unearthed in Visakhapatnam and said that people were drawing inspiration from the corrupt leadership of Jagan Mohan Reddy. He asserted that his government would not spare them.

First North Indian IAS For TTD EO Has Naidu’s Heart

It was perhaps for the first time that the AP government had appointed a north Indian IAS officer as EO to the prestigious TTD. It has several dimensions and directions.

Amaravati: The posting of 1993 batch IAS officer, Anil Kumar Singhal, as the Executive Officer of the prestigious Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) seems to have several dimensions. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had handpicked this bureaucrat for the prime slot against the wishes of several Telugu IAS officers and the long tradition.

Singhal, who is now the resident commissioner at the AP Bhavan in New Delhi was on several assignments with the Central government on deputation before being appointed in the present post. Though he was allocated to the Telangana State after the bifurcation, he opted for a change and came to the Andhra Pradesh holding the resident commissioner post in Delhi.

Prior to his posting at AP Bhavan, he was with the Central government on different assignments. It is said that at a time when senior IAS officers from the combined AP were no so cooperative with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu after his return to power in 2014 elections, Singhal stood firm helping the State government. The Babus on deputation to the Center were not happy with Naidu in his earlier stint and have refused to back him this time. However, Singhal’s initiatives have reportedly helped the AP government, particularly Naidu, in getting funds this time. It is said that Singhal had played key role in framing the Special Package for the State and also to route the Central funds from the Surface Transport Ministry and other departments.

Besides playing key role in routing finances to the State, Singhal is also said to have the support of many Union Ministers, including M Venkaiah Naidu and Srujana Chowdary, that have helped him make it to the TTD EO post.

Southern States Most Corrupt: Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu top the list

A survey conducted by Centre for Media Studies has revealed that Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jammu Kashmir and Punjab thrive on corruption in accessing public services

New Delhi: Petty corruption in the country between 2013 and 2017 has been on a decline, found a new survey. The survey conducted by the Centre for Media Studies (CMS), said that the perception and experience of corruption in public services have been on a decline.

The study was released by NITI Aayog member Bibek Debroy. Around 3,000 households from over 200 rural and urban clusters of 20 States were surveyed as part of this.

Three south Indian States Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu; Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab were amongst the first ten States that experienced corruption in accessing public services. While Karnataka stood first with 77% of corruption, Andhra Pradesh 74%, Tamil Nadu 68%, Maharashtra 57%, Jammu Kashmir 44%, and Punjab with 42%.
The households across 20 States paid a bribe of Rs. 6350 crores in 2017 against 20,500 crores in 2005, to access 10 public services, the report said.

The key reasons for paying a bribe to access a public service remained the same between 2005 and 2017, said CMS chairman N Bhaskara Rao. This only points out that ground level issues were not taken into consideration while addressing corruption, he added.

Saying that they were producing reports on corruption for several years, Rao told that they wanted the NITI Aayog to take note of these as they are the policy makers.

Bihar (74%), Jammu, Kashmir (69%), Odisha (60%), Rajasthan (59%) and Tamil Nadu (59%) were the most corrupt cases in 2005, said CMS.

The institution also held a telephonic survey in January on the impact of demonetization with a random selection across 20 States. While fifty percent respondents felt the level of corruption between November –December last year has reduced, 12 percent opined that graft has increased during that time, while 21 per cent felt that there was no change in the situation, explained the survey.

Naidu Hints At Early Polls, Asks TDP To Get Ready

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had reportedly hinted at the State going for early elections in 2018 and asked the leaders to get ready.

Amaravati: Telugu Desam national president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had reportedly hinted at early elections in the State. He spoke to the party leaders at a meeting of the party coordination committee on Friday. Naidu had reportedly told the leaders that he was expecting early elections in the State and wanted them to get ready for the same. Naidu is reported to have given results of a secret survey that he had got conducted in the State recently about the popularity of the parties. Comforting the party leaders, Naidu is understood to have told them that the party’s image had gone up considerably with the two prime projects of Polavaram and Amaravati making progress.

He said people in the State were watching the progress of the works in the two projects and they were of the opinion that these projects could be completed only if the TDP is returned to power. With this in view, the party’s vote share had gone up by 16.13 per cent while the YSR Congress vote base had got eroded by 13.45 per cent. This fall in the YSR Congress vote base would increase further once the government expedites the Polavaram and Amaravati works, he asserted.

Though the party senior leaders were dumbstruck at the prospect of early elections, Naidu had briefed them the advantage of going for early polls with the half-completed works of Polavaram and Amaravati. He had tried to breath confidence into the leaders by projecting the long six-lane seed access road and seven internal roads that are proposed for the capital. He had reportedly told the leaders that the images of these roads and the images of the temporary secretariat would build a positive image for the TDP in the days to come. He wanted the leaders to make up their minds to go for elections at least six months ahead of the schedule with the progress card on Polavaram and Amaravati.

How Much Naidu Pay To Hayat Park Hotel?

Though as Chief Minister he lived in Amaravati, on the banks of river Krishna, his wife and daughter-in-law lived in the hotel.

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s family stayed in the star hotel, Hayat Park Hotel, in Hyderabad as their new house was built. Though as Chief Minister he lived in Amaravati, on the banks of river Krishna, his wife and daughter-in-law lived in the hotel.

Though there are no reports of Andhra Pradesh government making payment for this hotel rent, it is said that the expenditure would be around Rs 20 crore. The Chief Minister’s family has been staying there since May 2016, which is close to one year. The family hired three President Suits, which are charged Rs 1,14,750 rent per day. According to this information, the three suits would cost Chandrababu Naidu’s family a whopping Rs 3,44,250 per day and Rs 1,03,27,500 per month. As the family is staying in the three President Suits for the past one year, the rent alone is around Rs 12,39,30,000. This is in addition to the food and other expenses for the family, their security personnel and the visitors.

When the Chief Minister is staying in a posh guest house on the banks of river Krishna for which the government had paid for the renovations and meeting all other expenses, it is to be seen if there is a provision to pay for the expenses and rentals for the family members of the Chief Minister living elsewhere.

A post about the hotel expenditure of Chandrababu Naidu’s family in Hyderabad is going viral in the social media. The Chief Minister, who still prefers to stay in the hotel even after the housewarming ceremony held last week, is now under the scan of the social media.

Is CBN Losing Grip? Open Revolts In TDP Become Routine

Chandrababu Naidu who has been leading the TDP for 22 years with an iron hand appears to be losing grip as open revolts by senior party leaders has become the order of the day.

Amaravati: The outburst of three-time Mo and Dalit leader Siva Prasad at Tirupati on Friday against the leadership of the ruling TDP has sent shockwaves across the party. The MP has chosen Ambedkar’s birth anniversary to mount an attack on AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu (CBN).

There is dissent and resentment that continues, even more vociferously, this time in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Perhaps this is for the first time that there is such an open resentment among the party leaders across the 13 districts of the State. Though CBN), president of the party, could keep his folks together and clip their wings in the 23 districts of the undivided State, he now seems to have lost control over the ranks as the dissent voices are heard every day from some corner of the State or the other. All these developments raise doubts over Chandrababu Naidu ability to keep the party united. He is not as assertive this time as he was in his earlier stint.

The Cabinet expansion had seen more dissidence and open defiance of the leader across the State. In fact, for the first time CBN had taken more than 24 hours in consultations to expand his Cabinet, which was not the case earlier. This time, he was rather forced to sit with Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu to rejig his Cabinet and hold consultations with the aspirants. There was open outburst by the party senior leaders, right from seniors like Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar, Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy and Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, to the juniors like Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, Anitha and others. While the aspirants were more vocal in expressing their dissent, those who were dropped from the Cabinet were seen denigrating CBN in the presence of their supporters. This kind of expression of dissent against CBN was not seen in his earlier term. Surprisingly, Chandrababu Naidu took again 24 hours time to finalise portfolios of the Ministers after reshuffle, which would have been completed by the evening of day when the oath was given.
Now, there is open revolt against the leadership of CBN. A three-time MP from Tirupathi, N Sivaprasad grabbed an opportunity to target CBN’s dispensation. He spoke at the Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations in the temple town where the leader found fault with the government and the Chief Minister for diverting the funds from the SC Sub-Plan. The MP’s open outburst exposes how the Chandrababu Naidu’s dispensation had diverted funds from the SC Sub-Plan to the popular schemes likes Chandranna Kanuka for the festivals.

In the nighbouring Kadapa district, the SC Cell leaders of the TDP are on hunger strike right at the NTR statue alleging injustice being done to them. The TDP leaders led by Elia, Vijayalakshmi, Meenakshi are on hunger strike seeking justice – recognition – for the SCs in the party for their services.

While this dissidence or the expression of resentment by the leaders is from within the party to doubt the firm grip that CBN has there is another point in the administrative side as well. His control over the bureaucrats has been found weakened in several occasions. Perhaps for the first time, CBN could not transfer the senior Babus (IAS & IPS officers) in the State as per his wish even after 48 hours. He had been working on the major reshuffle of the bureaucrats that would be his 2019 election team in administration and it is more than 48 hours back that he started the exercise. He is under pressure or rather undecided on the transfers of the officers as he used to do it in one day in one stroke in his previous stint. Something has happened to CBN’s confidence levels that has stymied his style.

AP CM Caught Reading Sakshi Newspaper

AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was caught reading Sakshi newspaper which he has been attacking day in and day out. He asked his party members not to read the paper or watch Sakshi TV news channel.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who criticises Sakshi newspaper and Sakshi TV a number of times in Assembly and at media conferences was caught red-handed on Tuesday.

Late YSR used to ask people not to read two papers which were against his Government when he was CM. He came out openly by citing the names of Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy. After TDP came to power, Sakshi media came out with a series of stories against the ruling party on land acquisition in Capital Zone which irked TDP leaders.

Naidu and his son Lokesh came down heavily on Sakshi media and gave a call for cadres to stop reading Sakshi papaer or watching the TV channel from the same stable.

But now, Naidu was seen seriously immersed in reading Sakshi news paper while travelling in a car. This has caught the party cadres wondering at the attitude of their leader.

Butchaiah Chowdary, TDP MLA, who was cut up when he was denied a berth in the Cabinet during the recent expansion, has also criticised Naidu for questioning party leaders basing on the information published by Sakshi newspaper. He said it shows the double standards practised by the CM. He skipped the East Godavari review meeting chaired by Naidu the other day.

Babu Goes Aggressive On YSR Congress

“If Congress was buried for its faulty bifurcation, the YSR Congress too has to be buried for its corruption and criminal politics in the State,” Chandrababu Naidu said.

Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu went aggressive on targeting the Opposition YSR
Congress and made an open appeal to the people to dump the party. He termed the party as party of dacoits, looters and economic criminals and wanted people to bury it before it raises its head.

Chandrababu Naidu visited Visakhapatnam on Tuesday to participate in official programmes. During his address to the people there in one of the meetings, Chandrababu Naidu said that people have buried the Congress in the State for its faults of bifurcation of the State. He wanted similar reaction from the people to bury the YSR Congress. “If Congress was buried for its faulty bifurcation, the YSR Congress too has to be buried for its corruption and criminal politics in the State,” Chandrababu Naidu said.

The Chief Minister further wanted people to bury the YSR Congress deep in the earth and cement it so that it never raises its head in the future. He said that the YSR Congress has become the obstacle for the development of the State which had suffered severely because of the Congress and the bifurcation. The State has to be developed on all fronts and has to be made the global destination in the years to come, he said and added that the development of the State is possible only if the Congress and the YSR Congress are kept out of public life.

Taking cue from the tone and tenor in which Chandrababu Naidu spoke against the YSR Congress, the days to come are set to be tough for the Opposition. It appears to be impossible for the Opposition to counter the onslaught and stand alive for the next two years if Naidu and his Ministers continue this verbal attack. It is to be seen how Jagan Mohan Reddy and his YSR Congress would withstand the powerfully packed verbal attack from the ruling Telugu Desam in the days to come.

CMs Of Telugu States Destroying Spirit Of The Constitution, Live In Fools’ Paradise

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have thrown up to stable Governments in 2014 elections. Why are the CMs indulging in horse-trading thus destroying common man’s faith in the Constitution?

Jaya Prakash Adusumilli

Of late, a vast majority of Indians  are  confronted with a piquant situation, wherein  the  so called  guardians of  Constitution  are  displaying utter contempt towards  the provisions of  the Constitution and the spirit behind it. The latest offenders on the  constitution being Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Speaker of AP  Assembly   and  the  Chief  Minister  of  Andhra  Pradesh, who are  considered  to  be  the  high  priests   of  Constitution  and  have  taken  pledge  in  the  name  of   the Constitution  to  protect the same, who have virtually molested the Constitution and the  new capital of Andhra Pradesh, ie., Amaravati is a silent spectator for the massacre of the Constitution.

As  per the  provisions of the  anti-defection law, which is a part  of the Constitution, the people’s representatives, who shift their loyalties to another party, run the risk of forfeiture of their representative status. However, in  the twin Telugu states of Telangana & Andhra Pradesh, the anti-defection law is nullified and  the turncoats are  rewarded  with  the ministerial berths. Even though  the  appointment  of  ministers  is  the  prerogative of  the  Chief  Minister, he shall  exercise  his powers  within  the  frame work of the constitution. He is legally bound to select his own party members or neutral members,  who  are  not  affiliated to any other political  party, as ministers  in  his cabinet. However, both the Chief ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are guilty of inducing defection in the  opposition  parties  by  offering  ministerial posts  as  a  reward  for  their  defection. The  Governor  is  duty-bound  to  remind  the  Chief  Ministers  of  this  provision  in  the  Constitution  and  shall  ensure  stoppage  of  horse  trading. However,  the  present  Governor  has  not  only  subjugated   the  Constitution    but  in fact  has  encouraged  defections  by  administering  the  oath  of   ministry  to  the  defected  members.    It  is  expected   that  the  President of  India  will  interfere  and  prevent the  Governor  from  violation  of  the  Constitution. But   President Pranab Mukherjee has displayed a studied silence on the matter.

Further,  the  role  of  Speaker  in  the  entire  episode  has  invited  all-round  condemnation. The office of Speaker is considered  to  be a sacrosanct institution and  stalwarts like Ganesh Vasudev Mavalankar, Ananthasayanam Iyengar, who adorned the office of Speaker in the 1950s, have brought great credibility and respect to  the  institution. However, of  late, degeneration  and degeneration has occurred in the  august  office and utilizing the office of  Speaker to meet their personal ambitions and supporting the political needs of the ruling  party. The blame for degrading the Speaker’s position squarely lies on the doorstep of Congress party which has virtually destroyed the credibility of   the Speaker position. However, the political parties, which have criticized the Congress party, have further denigrated the Speaker’s post whenever an opportunity was presented before them.

In  the  first  Andhra Pradesh assembly  meeting  at  Amaravati, the Speaker has stated that the opposition party of YSR Congress party has a strength of 66  MLAs.     However, 20 of them have occupied  the Treasury  benches (The 21st defector Bhuma Nagireddy passed away recently) and the Speaker has chosen to ignore the same. Further,  the  speeches  made  by those 20 MLAs are being accounted on behalf of the YSRC party. The anti-defection law authorizes the Speaker to disqualify the defected MLAs. However, the present day Speakers, who are loyalists of the ruling party,   follow the disqualification process only in its breach for years together, to suit the requirements of the ruling party. Accordingly, one MLA defected from Telugu Desam party has become a minister in the Cabinet of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

The Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh has made a hue and cry at the  defection of a single member from his party, whereas, he has ensured defection of 21 MLAs from YSRC party and made four of them ministers in  his  Cabinet. In both these cases, the Speaker has scrupulously followed the dikat of the ruling party and made a mockery of the Constitution and democratic system.

But the big question before the general public is why the present day governments of both the Telugu speaking States are indulging in such nefarious activities. The people of the two States have provided them with absolute majorities and presented an opportunity for them to function as statesmen. However, they are stooping very low to destroy the opposition parties and living in a figment of imagination that their parties would be winning elections after elections by dismantling the opposition  and in the process they are surrounded by political touts and opportunists. In order to cover up their failures, they are creating a rift between various social segments. However, history of Indian elections  are replete with various instances to show that the general public may be stubborn and unrelenting on various issues but when it comes to choosing their leaders, they have an uncanny ability to separate  husk from the grain.

Naidu Moves Into New Building In Hyderabad

AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu enters his new 5-storeyed residential building at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad on Sunday

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has performed House warming ceremony here on Sunday morning at his new palatial building. The building in Road No 65 at Jubilee Hills is five-storeyed with approximately 20,000 square feet living area. It was built under the personal supervision of Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneswari.

Naidu preferring to have his house in Hyderabad after moving the State Government employees post-haste is being criticised by the employees and political rivals. But as a person who developed Hyderabad city for nine years of his tenure as Chief Minister, it is natural for Naidu to prefer a house in the city. He is living at Vijayawada in Lingamaneni complex on temporary basis. He is planning a house at Amaravati.

Respond To ED’s Tweet: Babu Demands

Venting his against the Opposition leader, he criticised that a financial criminal went to Delhi and speaking about law and Constitution

Visakhapatnam: The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu came down heavily against the Opposition Party leader Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday.  Speaking to the media as part of his visit to Visakhapatnam, he reminded that the ED had tweeted that Jagan had invested in shell companies and Jagan has to give an explanation regarding the tweet.

Venting his against the Opposition leader, he criticised that a financial criminal went to Delhi and speaking about law and Constitution. He said that all the political decisions taken are for securing future of the State. He questioned if Jagan never allowed other party leaders to join his party.

He made it clear that he would concentrate on the development of the State setting aside the politics. He also said that if one works hard without allowing politicising everything, the development of the State would be possible. It is possible to achieve sustainable development if one is in power for a long time, he added.

How Far Will Naidu’s Psychological Warfare Work?

If the Telugu Desam Party thinks that just by levelling allegations against Opposition leaders, they can win the next elections, they are sure to face disappointment.

Hyderabad: Psychological warfare is one of the best ways to overpower the enemy. The ruling party in Andhra Pradesh seems to believe this very strongly. The Telugu Desam Party which got people’s mandate in 2014 elections is trying desperately to project the Opposition YSR Congress and its leader as most corrupt.

In an attempt to stop the Opposition Party leader Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy from speaking about the shortcomings in the governance or schemes, the ruling party members are directly attacking him about the corruption allegations levelled against him instead of giving an explanation to the issue raised by him. Every Assembly session is marked with such episodes. It appears that the ruling party not only wants people to believe that Jagan is corrupt, it wants Jagan himself to believe that he had amassed huge wealth as alleged by them.

Sitting on a high moral pedestal the TDP is desperately trying to project the Opposition leader as corrupt in order to hide its shortcomings and divert the attention of the public. The episode of Roja, an MLA of YSR Congress Party in the Assembly who allegedly used abusive language against certain members of the ruling Telugu Desam Party and the CM, was made sensational a few months ago. She was suspended by the Assembly Speaker and not allowed into the House. The irony is that the comments she made were highlighted by TDP and the media but not the circumstances that have led her to speak like that or who provoked her to speak such words. The ruling party appears to be very good at media management!

Incidentally, Roja was with Telugu Desam Party for ten years and worked as the head of its women’s wing Telugu Mahila. She is an outspoken person now and then. The party which encouraged her to be up-front about the then ruling party Congress, now feels that her speeches are appalling and degrading. It is a fact that Roja is one of the powerful speakers in YSR Congress and has the ability to question the ruling party.

Ironically there were rumours that Telugu Desam party tried to woo Roja and bring her back into their party fold some time ago. As they could not persuade her, they decided to brand her as dishonourable.

But, how far this psychological warfare is going to fetch results is the question. If the Telugu Desam Party thinks that just by levelling allegations against Opposition leaders, they can win the next elections, they are sure to face disappointment. These days public is more interested in people who deliver and not who sit on high moral pedestals sermonising.

Chandrababu Packed His Cabinet With Aggressive Voices

Dara Gopi
Amaravati: Having seen the failure of Ministers in countering the opposition aggressively during the last two and a half years, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had packed the Cabinet this time with more aggressive and assertive voices. So far the Chief Minister had just one voice of K Atchennaidu to attack the Opposition more aggressively. He is now backed by four more aggressive voices for the next half of the term to go.

The inclusion of Kaluva Srinivasulu, Somireddi Chandramohan Reddy, Nakka Ananda Babu and Pithani Satyanarayana from his own party and C Adinarayana Reddy and D Amaranadha Reddy from the YSR Congress had now made the Cabinet stronger and aggressive in countering the Opposition. Though senior leaders like K Kalavenkata Rao, are taken into the Cabinet, the Chief Minister is set to back on Srinivasulu, Chandramohan Reddy, Adinarayana Reddy, Amarnadha Reddy, besides Atchannaidu to counter Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Assembly. While Srinvasulu, Chandramohan Reddy and Atchannaidu are set to be aggressive, Adinarayana Reddy and Amarnatha Reddy are likely to be used to counter Jagan Mohan Reddy from his personality angle as they were part of the YSR Congress till recently. In fact it was the same trick that Chandrababu Naidu had used in the just-concluded Assembly session by making Jyothula Nehru and Adinarayana Reddy to speak against Jagan Mohan Reddy when the Assembly adopted a resolution against the Leader of Opposition. The same would be continued in the Assembly sessions to be held in the next two years.

These aggressive voices would be an added advantage for the ruling party besides the sarcasm that Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu displays in attacking Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Assembly, which would now be the strength of the ruling party. Given these intentions, the Assembly sessions to be held hereafter would have more of fireworks than of meaningful debate.

Back home in the ruling party, the highest priority given to the YSR Congress legislators in the Cabinet reshuffle is causing tremors. Senior leader Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy, who was dropped from the Cabinet to accommodate the YSR Congress legislators had slapped his resignation letter in protest. Senior leaders Dhulipala Narendranath and Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary are upset for not accommodating them. They are expressing their displeasure over the denial of the Cabinet berth for them this time too as there are no chance of another reshuffle before the 2019 elections. In the north coastal districts, senior legislator Gowthu Samsundar Sivaji is fuming at the leadership for denying the Cabinet berth. He had been with the ruling party for many years and is a seventh time legislator. In Krishna district, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao is not happy with the party chief and is said to be thinking on changing his strategy. He had been very aggressive in criticizing the Leader of Opposition both inside and outside the Assembly since his election in 2014. Similarly, another woman legislator V Anitha, who was vociferous in attacking Jagan Mohan Reddy and R K Roja is unable to digest her non-inclusion in the Cabinet.

With growing dissent within the party, it is to be seen how Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu would handle the party and lead it to the 2019 elections.

AP Cabinet Rejig: A Shameless, Listless Exercise, Violation Of Anti-Defection Law

Amaravati: The eleven ministers who were sworn in by Governor ESL Narasimhan have been picked up by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu reportedly keeping in view 2019 election. The long awaited decision to induct Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh has been executed. Now Lokesh has to catch up with K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), the rising son in neighbouring Telangana State.

There has been a criticism, valid to a great extent, that Kammas are dominating in the Cabinet and the other politically dominant community, Reddys, have not been given enough berths. Naidu has answered this criticism by taking four MLAs, three of them defectors, of this community from this community. Besides fulfilling the need to give representation to the community, the Chief Minister has also taken care to see that a Opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is effectively checkmated in his own citadel of Pulivendula. Induction of Adinarayana Reddy, who defected from the YSRCP and who is representing Jammalamadugu, neighbouring constituency to Pulivendula, is noteworthy. There are unconfirmed reports that the CM is planning to get Pulivendula constituency bifurcated to fix Jagan. Akhilapriya, daughter of Bhuma Nagireddy who died of heart attack recently, was taken into the cabinet fulfilling a promise made to father and daughter at the time of their defection from YSRCP into the ruling TDP. The other two Reddys are Amarnath Reddy and Somireddy Chandra Mohan Reddy. In all, there are 16 ministers from general castes and ten from the Bahujans.

In all, four defectors were inducted. Governor Narasimhan who was criticised by Naidu for giving oath to Talasani Srinivasa Yadav as a minister in K Chandrashekhar Rao’s Cabinet in Telangana. It is remarkable that the Governor has been cheerful when he administered the oath to the defectors on Sunday morning.

The Muslims remain without representation in Naidu’s Cabinet. The tribal are not given an opportunity. No Brahmin or Kshatriya was picked up. There are six Kammas and four Reddys. Two Reddys, Bojjala Gopala Krishna Reddy and Palle Raghunatha Reddy, have been dropped to cap the number of Reddy ministers at four. Other ministers who have been dropped are Ravela Kishore Babu, Kimidi Mrinalini and Peethala Sujata. These were ministers by the grace of Naidu. They have no clout to stage a revolt. Bonda Uma and Anita who went out of the way to attack Jagan have not been rewarded.

The next elections cannot be influenced by the new or old ministers since they are not given any freedom to improve their image through independent decisions. They have to be dependent on the CM or Lokesh since he is going to be the most important minister after Naidu.

Lokesh has taken oath immediately after Kala Venkata Rao who is State president of the TDP. Seniors who were ministers earlier like Chandra Mohan Reddy and Pithani Satyanarayana had to wait for their turn after Lokesh. The changes effected today are pedestrian and there is no vision or philosophy or any moral message. It is amoral to induct defectors. It is against social justice to limit the number of representatives from the Bahujans who constitute 85 percent of the population. Two women were dropped and one was taken thus reducing their numbers. Ministers who have been facing allegations like Pathipati Pulla Rao, Narayana and Devineni Umamaheswara Rao have not been touched. Both Governor Narasimhan and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu have not covered themselves with glory by this questionable exercise. The anti-defection law has been violated shamelessly.

Who Will Answer The CAG Remarks?

CAG Flays AP Government For Reckless Spending On Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Project
– Why Purushottapatnam & Chintalapudi Projects Which Are Temporary When Polavaram Is Scheduled   To Completed By 2019?
– Revenue Was Shown Without Even Identifying Industrial Beneficiaries.
– Huge Money Spent On Projects That Have No Central Clearances.

Vijayawada: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India had found fault with the spending of money from the exchequer by the Andhra Pradesh government. Days after the government had made tall claims about the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme that was intended to lift the Godavari river water and pump into the river Krishna, entering the Limca Book of Records, the CAG ridiculed the scheme. The CAG’s remarks were almost on the lines of the farmers who wanted this government to spend its energies on the Polavaram Project rather than this lift scheme for better advantages. The farmers’ associations have been up in arms against the government for the Pattiseema Lift calling it a waste of money as the scheme becomes redundant once the Polavaram Project is completed. But the government went ahead with the scheme spending a whopping Rs 1,600 crore and claimed to have created history by linking two rivers – Krishna and Godavari.

The CAG found fault with the government for accepting the bid by the contractor for Rs 1,427 crore while the government estimated cost of the project was Rs 1,170 crore, which is 21.9 per cent excess. The CAG also pointed an accusing finger at the government for completing the project without identifying the beneficiaries. The project had not prepared a list of the beneficiaries for the water pumped and flown into the canal. “There is no list of industrial beneficiaries of the water, no list of agriculture beneficiaries and no list of domestic beneficiaries for the Polavaram Right Main Canal which is used for the water pumped under the scheme,” the CAG report said. It also took strong exception to the government for projecting Rs 41.51 crore revenue from the industrial use of the water, without even identifying the beneficiaries.

The CAG had raised objections for the government claiming the life span of the project for 20 years, while it planned to be used as stop gap arrangement till the Polavaram Project gets completed by 2019. The CAG found that the Pattiseema project has no clearances from the Central Water Commission, and wondered how a government could spend so much money without clearances, without permission, without identifying the beneficiaries.

As the CAG report is out, the question now being asked is who will care for it or who will answer the questions it had raised in the report. The government is going ahead with the project and had even proposed two more such projects, Purushothapatnam and Chintalapudi, on the similar lines of the Pattiseema. These two lift irrigation projects too are going to be stop gap arrangements before the completion of the Polavaram Project.

The farmers and the farmers associations say that Pattiseema, Purushotthapatnam and Chintalapudi lift irrigation projects would go waste once the Polavaram Project is completed and the money spent on these projects is a huge loss to the State exchequer. But, there seems to be no takers for these questions as the government is intended to go ahead with its plans for these two projects.
