Chandrababu goes into election mode with the motto ‘to be in power forever’
Amaravati: Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu seems to have switched over to the election mode two years ahead of the general elections in 2019.
With a series of elections ahead of him, MLC polls in March and local bodies’ elections later this year, Chandrababu Naidu has asked the rank and file of the party to get into action. He has also warned them of severe consequences if they continue with internal squabbles. He asked the leaders to leave their egos at home and work for the party for the next two years. He said that the party would be in power forever as the Opposition ceases to exist.
Chandrababu Naidu addressed the party MLAs, MLCs, MPs, future aspirants and constituency in-charge leaders in the city where he had given them targets to reach out to the people. He asked the ministers to make themselves available for the people in their Assembly constituencies according to a schedule and wanted them to ensure that the benefits of the government programmes are received and understood by the people and every programme should move people towards the TDP.
Emphasizing on discipline, Chandrababu Naidu wanted the leaders to resolve their issues within the party forum and not to rush to the media. He cautioned the leaders against leaking the news of differences in the party to the media as that would cause damage to the party’s image.
“I have been watching everyone of you for several years. I know your abilities and capabilities and you get the recognition accordingly. Last time I have compromised on some seats and we lost them. Next election, I don’t want TDP to be defeated even in a single seat. So no compromise on giving party tickets for the next elections as the target is to be in power forever,” the TDP supremo made it clear to the leaders.
With a considerable number of leaders from other parties joining the TDP, Chandrababu Naidu wanted everyone to work together. He said he had direct and correct information about every leader and would take action as and when required. He wanted the new entrants and the existing leaders to work together taking the cadre along. He also asked the leaders to keep intact the party base at the grassroots besides adding new voters through welfare programmes.
