Cancel the posts of Parliamentary secretaries : HC rules
- Appointments are against the norms
- No to such appointments without HC permission
HYDERABAD: In what is called a major ‘blow’ to Telangana Government, the High Court today directed the government to cancel immediately the Parliamentary Secretaries’ posts appointed some time ago.
Perusing separate petitions filed by Congress MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Telugu Desam MLA Revanth Reddy against the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries by the TRS government, the court observed that the appointment is totally against the norms. The Court asked the State Government to cancel these posts as they cannot be considered constitutional.
The petitioners challenged the government’s action in appointing parliamentary secretaries in the court and appealed to quash the posts, which are extra-constitutional. With this, the six MLAs who were elevated as parliamentary secretaries will lose their posts.
The sixare Srinivas Goud (Revenue), Sathish Kumar (Education), Kishore Kumar (Health), Lakshmi (Agriculture), Jalagam Venkat Rao and Vinay Bhasker (CMO).
The State government had appointed them as parliamentary secretaries with deputy-minister status. The court also asked the government not to resort to any such appointments without its permission. (NSS)
