Call for dharnas to resolve farm labour problems

Hyderabad: Bharathiya Keth Mazdoor Union national vice-president Gunda Mallesh has given a call to stage dharnas in front of Collectorates on December 7thA�demanding the state government to solve problems of agriculture labour.A�

Participating in a meeting of state level activists of Telangana Vyavasaya Karmika Sangam (BKMU) Rashtra Samithi, Mallesh alleged that the Narendra Modi government was adopting anti-agriculture, anti-Dalit and anti-tribal policies. a�?Due to Modi governmenta��s attitude their lives became troublesomea�?, he lamented.

He said: The central government hatched a conspiracy to weaken the NREGS, which was providing livelihood, he asserted. He bemoaned that attacks on Dalits, tribal and weaker sections across the nation were increasing and women were facing security problems. The SC, ST Sub-Plan funds were being diverted, he alleged and demanded the state government to provide 200 days of work giving Rs 400 as daily wage.

He asked the workers to campaign in villages and towns from November 8 to December 5 all over the country and stage dharnas and agitate in front of the collectorate offices on December 6 on the occasion of Dr BR Ambedkara��s death anniversary. The meeting, held at BKMU office in Himayathnagar, was presided over by state president T Venkatramulu.A�

CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy alleged that not a single assurance made by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was fulfilled in Telangana. On the other hand, the TRS government was evicting tribal people, who practice mobile agriculture (Podu), from their lands in the name of Haritha Haram. He called upon the cadre to intensify the agitation against the government to solve the problems of the agriculture labour.A�

Vyavasaya Karmika Sangam state general secretary E Narsimha opined that there was a need to strengthen Vyavasaya Karmika Sangam from village level. He asked the Karmika Sangam leaders to appoint new committees to the new districts immediately.A�Vyavasaya Karmika Sangam state leaders K Kanthaiah, M Linga Reddy, B Ashok, Sayyad Afsar, Rajanna, Thajuddin, Bashir, Esaiah, Chandraiah, Venkanna, P Ailaiah, Ganesh and others participated in the meeting.
