Cadre Unhappy Over TDP District Presidents’ Appointments
Amaravati: The Telugu Desam Party is facing headaches from various quarters within the party. Till the other day the ministers who levelled allegations against each other, and the squabble for Nandhyal seat which resulted in the exit of Silpa Mohan Reddy and other problems bothered the TDP supremo. Now the problem of selecting candidates for district president posts has been added to the existing problems.
In fact, Naidu tried to complete the selection of district presidents in a democratic way by taking everybody’s opinion into consideration. The district president and general secretary were selected through IVRS Survey. But, as almost all the people who were selected were old guard, the younger leaders were disappointed. Above all, the local politics are also becoming a reason for dissatisfaction with the presidential candidates.
While, Namana Rambabu was appointed as East Godavari district president, Tota Sitarama Lakshmi for West Godavari, GVS Anjaneyulu for Guntur district, Damacharla Janardhan for Prakash district, Bida Ravichandra Yadav for Nellore district. While B Arjunudu was appointed as president of Krishna district, Vijayawada Urban TDP president and general secretary were not announced. While Srinivas Reddy was appointed for Kadapa, BK Pardha Saradhi for Anantapur, S Venkateswarlu for Kurnool and P Maniprasad for Chittore were appointed. While G Sirisha was appointed as president of Srikakulam district, Mahanti Chinnamanaidu for Vijayanagaram, V Ganesh for Vishakha Urban, P Ramesh Babu for Visakha Rural were appointed. Senior leader and Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has complained against the In-charge Minister Gants Srinivasa for ignoring him and asking him not to interfere in the election of the president of the party’s Vijayanagaram district unit.
Meanwhile, sources say that there is opposition against one or two people in North Andhra. Particularly the appointment of Ramesh Babu for Vishakha Rural was not welcomed by leaders. Questions are being raised as he is a non-local. Likewise, the appointment for Vijayanagaram district is also opposed by some people. Some seniors are angry because a mandal level leader is made district president.
On the other hand, dissatisfaction is being expressed in the native district of Naidu. Sources said that party cadre and leaders are not happy as all the posts are given to people belonging to one particular community.
Though the party supremo tried his best to show the appointments to be democratic, leaders are not pleased with the candidates.
