Budding journalists urged to think out of box

  • J-Hub to help students hone their skills

Hyderabad: Senior journalist Prof K Nageshwar on Saturday exhorted students to think beyond the realm of possibilities while writing news stories and stated that the J-Hub was an opportunity to publish articles in print and on web platforms.

Addressing candidates at the orientation session of the J-Hub in the Department of Communication & Journalism, at Osmania University, Prof Nageshwar explained the modalities of working in the J-Hub. He said it is a platform for students to hone their skills and make a career. Dispelling the notion that journalism as a profession pays meager salaries, he pointed out that candidates with right skills are always well paid. Compensation increases as fresh graduates gain experience, he observed.

On the advantages of being a journalist, Prof Nageshwar said, journalism offers immense challenges and job satisfaction. a�?Good journalists get connected to masses and earn fame,a�? he stated and added that the J-Hub will be completely practical-oriented and candidates would be taken through the entire news writing process from idea to publication. Weekly review sessions will be held on everyA�SaturdayA�fromA�10amA�in the Department, he said.

Prof K Stevenson, Head, Department of Communication & Journalism, highlighted the initiatives, including a TV studio and news lab, in the Department. It also launched its You Tube channel, Osmania Journalism,A�a separate website for J-Hub (JA�hub.in)A�to uploadA�news items filed by candidates.
