BSF Jawan Who Complained About Sub-standard Food Dismissed
New Delhi: The BSF jawan, who complained about the sub-standard food being served to jawans by posting a video on a social media platform was dismissed by Border Security Force. The video posted by jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav on social media became a point of discussion at that time and he was supported by politicians, celebrities and citizens. Responding to his video, Home Minister Rajnath Singh ordered an enquiry into the matter. However, the BSF officials felt that it is a violation of disciplinary norms for a jawan to shoot videos while on duty.
An inquiry committee instituted to look into the allegations found the jawan guilty of making false charges.
“Yadav has been found guilty on certain charges of indiscipline including uploading the said video in violation of laid down procedures and rules. He has an option to appeal against the verdict within three months time,” a senior official of BSF said.
A PIL was also filed in the Delhi High Court seeking a direction to the government to depute higher officials to supervise cooking of food and its distribution and also sought a Status report. The court issued a notice to various paramilitary forces including the BSF seeking their stand on the allegations.
