Blood donation, cycle rally mark 2nd anniversary of CRDA
Vijayawada: The AP CRDA on Friday conducted a cycle rally and a blood donation camp marking its second anniversary. The employees of the CRDA, that is responsible for building the new capital, Amaravati, took up cycling to promote cycling activity in the new capital. The CRDA employees reached their office from Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium passing through Benz Circle and M G Road.
CRDA commissioner Cherukuri Sreedhar said that Amaravati would be a healthy and pollution-free city with employees using cycle or community transport. He said that the CRDA had tied up with the All India Bicycling Federation to promote the use of cycles in Amaravati. He further added that the use of cycle would be a healthy practice as followed in several western countries. The roads being formed in Amaravati would also have separate tracks for cycle to promote the use of cycle, he added.
The CRDA employees also organised a blood donation camp at the CRDA office with the help of the Indian Red Cross Society. CRDA additional commissioner V Rama Manohara Rao said that the casualties in road accidents were mostly due to non-availability of blood. He wanted people to keep donating blood and save lives of the people.
CRDA additional commissioner Dr A Mallikharjuna and other senior officers of the CRDA, employees participated in the programme.
