Kolkata: Some leaders of the ruling BJP are making bizarre statements in order to attract headlines. It may be also a case of blurting out what they have been nursing in their hearts. The latest ugly statement came from a member of BJP’s youth wing in Bengal, Yogesh Varshney, who announced a ₹ 11 lakh reward for Chief Minister MamataBanerjee’s head.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, senior BJP leader, has disowned the statement saying that the State Government of Bengal can take appropriate action against the culprit.

Varshney is a member of Bharathiya Janata Yuva Morchawhich organised a rally at Birbhum in connection with Hanuman Jayanti. In the heat of the moment while criticising the Chief Minister, Varshney said he would pay ₹ 11 lakh to any one who would behead Mamata Banerjee.

There was an uproar in both the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday morning with opposition Members flaying the ruling party for indulging in goondaism. The ruling party distanced itself from the young leader who made stupid comments. The party is expected to take disciplinary action against Varshney.
