BJP Wins Floor Test In Manipur Assembly
Imphal: BJP’s CM N Biren Singh won the crucial floor test in Assembly on Monday. Governor Najma Heptullah invited BJP to form the government with no other party coming forward to do so.
Out of 60 MLAs in the House, BJP has 33 and opposition Congress has 27, which shows clear majority for the ruling party, claimed senior BJP leader Himantha Biswas Sharma. The top BJP leader lodged all the supporting legislators in a hotel at Guwahati for the past one week to make sure that no single MLA slips out from its hands until floor test.
The Naga People’s Front has four seats. The Lok Janashakti Party headed by Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has one MLA. Shyam Kumar, who won on the Congress ticket, had joined the BJP along with lone All India Trinamool Congress MLA. Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had confabulated with the MLAs and got the required numbers. BJP general secretary Ram Madhav has been coordinating the efforts. The Congress party was caught napping in the power game.
