BJP Will Expand Its Base In AP, Says Haribabu
Amaravati: As a section of the leaders want BJP to continue its alliance with the TDP in Andhra Pradesh, BJP State Unit President Kambhampati Haribabu too toed the same line going soft on the ally, the TDP.
During his interaction with the media persons ahead of Amit Shahas visit to the State, Haribabu even refused to comment on the statement of TDP MP Kesineni Srinivas that the TDP had lost its majority in the last elections only because of the alliance with the BJP.
Haribabu said he would not take the statements of the individual leaders seriously and would react only if the TDP leadership made any such statements or endorsed Kesinenias statement.
Haribabu, a hardcore supporter of Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, has been soft towards the TDP and its chief Chandrababu Naidu right from the beginning. The alliance between the two parties continue even today despite resistance from both sides down the line, only because of the pro-TDP attitude of both Venkaiah Naidu and Haribabu.
The BJP leader said that Amit Shah directed the BJP leaders in Andhra Pradesh to reach out to the people expanding the partyas base. The party has so far constituted over 25,000 booth level committees in the state; out of a total of 45,000 booths spread over 175 Assembly Constituencies.
When asked whether expansion of BJP in AP would mean eating into the vote bank of the TDP, Haribabu said that every party has its own vote bank and the BJPas growth has nothing to do with the TDPas strength in the state.
Haribabu said that the BJP would take up intensive campaign across the state from May 26 to June 15, marking the three years completion of the Modi government at the Center. He said that the rank and file of the party would go to the people and explain to them the BJPas developmental programmes and its initiatives to strengthen the nation.
The BJP Rajahamahendravaram legislator Akula Satyanarayana was also present.
