Auto drivers protest increase in RTA fee

Hyderabad: Auto drivers belonging to Telangana State Auto Driver Unions JAC staged a dharna on Thursday at RTC Crossroads in protest against the abnormal increase in RTA fee structure and demanded that the Chief Minister immediately fulfill his promise to exempt auto drivers from 8th Class pass condition to obtain driving licence and badge. They also raised slogans against the Prime Minister and Telangana Chief Minister.

TADJAC leader Mohd Amanullah Khan warned that if the abnormal increase in the RTA fee structure was not withdrawn immediately, the auto drivers would be forced to intensify their agitation.

TADJAC leaders B Venkatesham, V Kiran, MA Saleem, Narender, Mirza Rafath Baig, Dasari Ramesh and Mohd Dastagir also spoke. The dharna lasted 45 minutes and the drivers dispersed peacefully after the protest. During the protest dharna, the vehicular traffic came to a standstill at the RTC Crossroads. -NSS
