Athletic Meet at Gachibowli Stadium
Hyderabad: Dr MCRHRD Institute of Telangana, as a part of the Foundation Course for the officers belonging to All India Services and Central Civil Services, organized an Athletic Meet at Gachibowli Stadium.
A large number of Trainee Civil Servants competed for medals in such events as Running, Long Jump, High Jump, Javelin, Short Put, Discus Throw and so on. Pullela Gopichand, Chief National Coach for Indian Badminton Team, who was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Function of the Meet, presented medals to the winners.
Gopichand said there are core similarities between the skill sets required of both Civil Servants and professional sportspersons and called upon the trainee Civil Servants to start thinking and working like sportspersons in order to attain professional success. He also said they can borrow many a lesson from sportspersons such as setting inspiring goals, motivating teams to perform well, building team spirit, and inculcating high level of discipline. He called upon them to build the mindset of a champion, which involves taking small steps but remembering the big picture, letting the dreams to be bigger than fears, continuing the campaign despite initial failures, and keeping their skill set up-to-date.
Anitha Balakrishna, Joint Director General of the Institute & Course Coordinator, recalled as to how Gopichand had declined offers for endorsements of brands that he did not believe in and urged the trainee Civil Servants to hold on to their core values and beliefs in the discharge of their duties.
Rajeev Trivedi, Principal Secretary of Home, who inaugurated the Athletic Meet early in the morning, said there was a direct relationship between physical fitness and productivity at workplace. He said one should start physical fitness and adopt healthy lifestyle at a young age and continue them as a part of his habits so that he remains productive throughout his professional career.
