HYDERABAD: Finally the budget session of Telangana on Thursday approved the Appropriation bill introduced by Finance Minister Etala Rajender amid opposition protests and congress members staging a walkout as leader of the house K Chandrasekhar Rao was not present.
Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary announced the house sine die after a prolonged debate which sought the Centre to continue levy policy besides taking up many issues. With this the state government got authorization to make use of the funds proposed under various heads of full time budget of Rs 1,15,689 cr.
The House which began on Mar 7 continued for only 14 days with 78 hours and 54 minutes session which saw the suspension of TD members for disrespecting national anthem. The Congress president Utham Kumar Reddy criticized that the budget proposals are far from the facts.
While MIM floor leader AKbaruddin Owaisi criticized as unfortunate that the chief minister is not present when the appropriation bill was passed. BJP member G Kishen Reddy sought the construction of hostels based on caste to address the grievances. Rajender stated that the funds will be used as per priorities for welfare, agriculture and others. Minister KTR said that the number of pensioners rose during their tenure. While commercial taxes minister T Srinnivas Yadav said that the Centre slashed the funds in its schemes. (NSS)
