AP Tourism goes global, meets UNWTO chief for investment
Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department is going global to attract global investment in the State. A delegation of the AP Tourism had met United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) secretary general Taleb D Rifai at Berlin and briefed him the tourist potential in the State. The officials of the delegation have also presented the prestigious Kondapalli toys to Rifai who was attracted to the craft.
The delegation explained to the UNWTO chief about the tourism potential in the Godavari region on fisheries, the lives of tribals in Araku valley and beach tourism in Visakhapatnam and Yarada areas. They have requested the UNWTO chief to motivate the global tourist firms to invest in these places as they would attract international tourists.
The AP government is planning to promote tourism in a big way using its Buddhist connections, the two rivers of Krishna and Godavari and the long sea coast. The officials of the AP Tourism have been visiting the potential investing countries and inviting them to the State. The present delegation touring Berlin has been holding talks with several tourism companies to move out to Andhra Pradesh.
