AP to take Dalit youth for trekking of Mount Kilimanjaro
Amaravati: The Krishna District Youth Welfare Department has come up with a novel plan to promote mountaineering among Dalit youth. It has invited the youth to apply for a 10-day trek of Mount Kilimanjaro.
The department has asked the youth to send their applications to the KRISHI office at Veterinary Colony in Vijayawada before February 18. The youth who want to participate in the trekking should come up with all the required certificates including Aadhaar card and passport. They should also be able to complete the selection tests.
The KRISHI chief executive officer K Mohan Kumar has asked the students to come with the no objection certificate from the principals of their colleges if they are students, and a similar certificate from the parents or guardian. They should also carry a medical fitness certificate from the local doctor, he added.
The students and youth belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes living in Andhra Pradesh are eligible to participate in the adventure, Mohan Kumar added.
