AP set to launch LED tube lights scheme
Amaravathi: The Andhra Pradesh Government is planning to launch a programme to save 50% to 60% of electricity. Under the scheme, known as Distribution of Energy Efficient Tube Lights Programme (DEETLP), the government supplies tube lights to consumers at the wholesale price of around Rs 250 apiece through kiosks. The same tube light is sold at Rs 500 to Rs 600 in the open market. The programme will be launched by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during Energy Conservation Week from December 14 to 20.
The energy efficient measures taken up so far are yielding good results and the households are realizing the benefits of this movement as their power bills have come down substantially. It is estimated that two LED bulbs in a house can cut electricity bills by as much as Rs 250 – Rs 500 per annum. AP has been observing December 14-20 as Energy Conservation Week every year to create widespread awareness among all about energy conservation and efficiency, in day-to-day life.
The AP Government has chalked out ambitious plans to involve all the members of Woman Self Help Groups in the Energy Efficiency campaign. -NSS
